    摘要: A nozzle for an injection molding apparatus includes a nozzle body having a first nozzle body segment, a second nozzle body segment and a third nozzle body segment. The second nozzle body segment is removably connected to at least one of the first nozzle body segment and the third nozzle body segment. The first nozzle body segment and the third nozzle body segment are heated either by first and second nozzle heaters, respectively, or by a heater sleeve having a cut-out along the length of the second nozzle body segment. The second nozzle body segment is substantially devoid of a nozzle heater such that the second nozzle body segment is heated passively through contact with the first nozzle body segment and the third nozzle body segment.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for molding a sealing surface of revolution on a molded part in first and second partable mold halves that mate at a major parting line plane. First and second mold inserts each have a sub-insert trim wheel component shaped to mold form the sealing surface of revolution when closed at a minor parting line plane. The sub-inserts are rotatable between a position flush with the major parting line plane and a starting position angularly offset therefrom. The mold cavity is filled with liquid molding material that is allowed to harden to at least a self-sustaining solidification strength. The sub-inserts are then rotated to thereby move any minor parting line flash toward a position angularly offset from their starting position. This rotation causes any parting line flash that might otherwise remain on the sealing surface to be removed from attachment to, and/or smeared smooth along, such surface.

    摘要: A drive assembly for rotating and translating a shaft comprising a hollow shaft motor and a fluid cylinder. The hollow shaft motor rotates the shaft and the fluid cylinder moves the shaft lengthwise. The drive is particularly useful in the injection unit of an injection-molding machine. In one preferred embodiment the injection unit includes a hollow electric motor and a hydraulic cylinder. A first cylinder wall of the hydraulic cylinder is joined to a rotor of the hollow motor. A second cylinder wall of the cylinder is connected to a stationary portion of the hollow motor. A piston has two end portions. One end portion of the piston engages the first cylinder wall and the other end portion of the piston engages the second cylinder wall. Means for rotating the piston are attached to the rotor. The means for rotating also permits the piston end portions to slide along the cylinder walls. One channel means provides hydraulic fluid to drive the piston in a forward direction and another channel means provides hydraulic fluid to drive the piston in a reverse direction. Means are provided for attaching an injection screw to the piston. In the preferred arrangement, the cylinder is at least partially situated within the hollow motor.

    摘要: A device and method for positioning a resin-sealed lead frame that includes semiconductor devices and resin for sealing the semiconductor devices on the lead frame. A break unit is provided for moving the resin-sealed lead frame to a break table. The break unit includes a vacuum suction portion to hold the resin-sealed lead frame during movement and to release it when the resin-sealed lead frame is brought into a receiving opening associated with the break table. The receiving opening is defined by a plurality of guides with the outer tip portions of the guides providing the receiving opening as a space larger than that occupied by the outer configuration of the resin-sealed lead frame. The guides have a slope to position the resin-sealed lead frame onto the break table after it is released in the receiving opening. The break unit further includes push down pins for pushing down and breaking off unwanted extra portions of resin from beneath the resin-sealed lead frame. The break table is further provided with notches which have shapes corresponding to the shapes of unwanted extra portions of resin of the resin-sealed lead frame.

    摘要: A molded optical component which is comprised of a lens portion, an annular outer rim integrally formed around the circumference of the lens portion, an annular reference surface formed on the circumference of the outer rim in a predetermined width along one end thereof, and an obliquely cut surface formed across the circumference of the outer rim by stripping a gate stub therefrom. The obliquely cut surface is extended from the other end of the outer rim up to a position falling short of near boundaries of the reference surface. A gate stub is removed from the molded optical component by bringing cutting edges of a rotary cutting tool into engagement with a circumferential portion of the outer rim at a predetermined angle of inclination with center axis of the latter thereby to remove circumferential portions of the outer rim including the gate sub and to form an obliquely cut surface crosswise of the circumference of the outer rim from the other end thereof up to a position falling short of the reference surface.

    摘要: A tamper-evident thermoplastic fitment having a spout and a closure for said spout are welded to a polymer-coated paperboard container or to a flexible plastic container. The fitment and closure are initially molded simultaneously but with a substantial space between the two pans interconnected by an elongated runner which conducts molten plastic from the closure to the fitment. Upon retraction of the core of the mold, the closure is pulled into the spout until shoulders on the parts engage, whereupon the closure is stripped from the mold core. The runner comprises a tear tab which slides through an apertured space on the closure. When the parts engage tangs on the tear tab engage the space, making the assembly tamper-evident. The fitment has a flange which may be welded or otherwise secured to the container. The tab may be pulled by the consumer to open the container. The closure may be unscrewed from the spout or otherwise disengaged.
