The invention relates to a method of making tissue paper in a machine for making tissue paper and in which method a fibrous web is passed through at least one press nip together with a texturing belt. The texturing belt has a side that faces the fibrous web in the press nip and the surface of that side is a web contacting surface that is textured. The texturing belt can be selected such that the tissue paper that is manufactured obtains desired values for one or several parameters. The invention also relates to a machine for making tissue paper. The machine comprises a forming section, a drying cylinder, a press having a first press unit and a second press unit between which press units a nip is formed. The second press unit is preferably a shoe roll. The machine also comprises a drying cylinder which is arranged to be heated from the inside by hot steam and on which a fibrous web can be dried by heat. A texturing belt is arranged to run in a loop through the nip and to the drying cylinder such that a fibrous web can be carried by the texturing belt to the drying cylinder and transferred to the drying cylinder. The side of the texturing belt that contacts the fibrous web comprises a layer of a polymer material such that the polymer material will contact the fibrous web and cavities are formed in that surface of the texturing belt that comes into contact with the fibrous web.

Bicomponent monofilaments made from these grooved monofilaments using solution or wire coating have improved coating adhesion and may also include a conductive coating. In addition, the grooved bicomponent monofilaments may include a wear-indicating mechanism. Also disclosed are monofilaments with grooves formed in its surfaces. Advantageously, these grooved monofilaments exhibit improved adhesion to “sheet-grip” coatings, as compared with circular monofilaments. In addition, fabrics comprising these grooved monofilaments demonstrate improved air handling. The grooved monofilaments may be incorporated in a fabric as MD yarns, CD yarns, or both CD and MD yarns.

The invention relates to ultrasonic welding of industrial fabrics. Specifically, the invention relates to methods for ultrasonically welding the seam area of industrial fabrics using a textured horn and/or anvil. The fabric edges are overlapped as woven or one or both edges can have some warp or weft yarns raveled out. The method involves ultrasonically bonding the overlapped fabric edges, reducing the caliper of the two stacked edges to match the body caliper of the fabric itself. The bonded area can then be perforated using laser or other mechanical means to produce a seam having the same woven texture and permeability (air and/or water) as the body of the fabric.

The industrial fabric, belt or sleeve is produced by spirally winding strips of polymeric material, such as an industrial strapping or ribbon material, around two rolls in a side-to-side manner in which a gap between adjacent edges is formed. A second material, for example a gap filler material, is placed between the adjacent edges, and the adjoining edges are joined by melting the filler material, strips of polymeric material, or both. The gap filler material can have a specific cross-sectional shape corresponding to the gap.

A method for forming an industrial textile product by spiral winding an array of machine direction (MD) yarns to form a system having a defined width, and then connecting the MD yarns in the cross machine (CD) direction with resin. This method is a replacement for conventional weaving or knitting of substrates which can be used as forming, press or dryer fabrics in papermaking, and other industrial applications. Devices for forming the product are also described.
