The invention relates to the automatic rendering of a lighting scene with a lighting system, particularly the control of the rendering. A basic idea of the invention is to perform rendering of a lighting scene by decomposing a lighting atmosphere to be rendered in elementary light effects, to classify the elementary light effects, and to coordinate the realisation of the classified light effects with the lighting system. An embodiment of the invention provides a light control system (10) for automatically rendering a lighting atmosphere with a lighting system, wherein the light control system (10) is adapted for decomposing the lighting atmosphere to be rendered in elementary light effects (14; S10), classifying the elementary light effects into sets of light effects (16; S12), and coordinating the realisation of the sets of light effects with the lighting system (18; S14-S26). The present invention enables an automatic light control system to autonomously determining the lighting configuration settings needed by light modules of a lighting system to realise a desired lighting atmosphere whilst its elementary lighting effects are harmonically rendered.

The present invention provides a method and system for delivering SDTV/HDTV services that achieves significant bandwidth savings, while keeping the existing SDTV transmission unchanged. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a system is provided for delivering HDTV signals. In this system, an HD enhancement layer containing an HD enhancement data stream is obtained\. The HD enhancement layer is delivered to a server to enable a subscriber to access the server, via a set top terminal, to receive the HD enhancement layer over a network system. In another embodiment of the invention, a base layer containing a SD data stream is also delivered to the set top terminal to allow the terminal to integrate the HD enhancement layer and the base layer into a HDTV output.

Methods for an outdoor lighting network (100) are disclosed. The methods can adaptively control lighting requirements based upon traffic in the outdoor lighting network (100). The adaptive control provides illumination over a certain response range based upon detection of an object (20) and in addition possibly a velocity of the object (20) by a lighting unit (LUs 1-8) equipped with a sensor (12) For the outdoor lighting network (100), the disclosed methods include deciding when a control message should be transmitted to other lighting units (LUs 1-8), selecting one or more control messaging protocols with modes adapted to achieve a response range depending on the velocity of the object (20) and controlling behavior of a light level output of the lighting unit (LU 1-8).

The present disclosure pertains to a system and method for controlling insufflation pressure during inexsufflation of a subject. The system inexsufflates the subject such that tidal flow and/or tidal volume are monitored during insufflation, and insufflation pressure is adjusted to maintain the flow rate of the pressurized flow of breathable gas until a target tidal volume is reached for the insufflation. When the target tidal volume has substantially been reached, the system is causes gas to be evacuated from the airway of the subject. This may provide for more precise, customized therapy for the subject than is provided by conventional inexsufflation systems in which inspiratory flow may not be monitored and/or controlled. In one embodiment, the system comprises one or more of a pressure generator, a subject interface, one or more sensors, a processor, a user interface, electronic storage, and/or other components.

In accordance with embodiments of the invention, at least partial strain relief in a light emitting layer of a III-nitride light emitting device is provided by configuring the surface on which at least one layer of the device grows such that the layer expands laterally and thus at least partially relaxes. This layer is referred to as the strain-relieved layer. In some embodiments, the light emitting layer itself is the strain-relieved layer, meaning that the light emitting layer is grown on a surface that allows the light emitting layer to expand laterally to relieve strain. In some embodiments, a layer grown before the light emitting layer is the strain-relieved layer. In a first group of embodiments, the strain-relieved layer is grown on a textured surface.
