    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide an arrangement structure capable of reducing noise caused by a laminated ceramic capacitor mounted on a printed circuit board. A unit arrangement structure includes ceramic capacitors. Among the laminated ceramic capacitors, capacitors are arranged so that capacitor axes thereof extend along a first axis, while the other ceramic capacitors are arranged so that capacitor axes thereof extend along a second axis crossing the first axis. In accordance with such an arrangement structure, it is possible to effectively suppress noise even in the case of single-side mounting.

    摘要: A method that utilizes software means to meet the FCC requirement for an U-NII antenna to be an integral part of the device in which it operates, while providing wireless ready U-NII devices and CRUable U-NII radios. Enhancements are made to the system BIOS, including the inclusion of a table of PCI IDs and secret key pairs. The CRUable radio includes a pair of validation registers (VRs) and an EEPROM storing an PCI ID and secret key of an approved device. During boot up of the device, the PCI ID and secret key from the device's BIOS are compared against the PCI ID and secret key stored in the radio's EEPROM. The first comparison completes a radio-to-device authentication in the device, while the second comparison completes a device-to-radio authentication in the radio. U-NII transmission capability is enabled only when both parameters match, indicating FCC approved device-antenna-radio combination under the “integral” requirement.

    摘要: A phone tree traversal system includes an input device configured to receive a user call request, a memory, and one or more processors. The one or more processors analyze the user call request to identify an entity to call and an objective of the call, and obtain a map of a phone tree utilized by an automated call receiving system of the entity. The phone tree includes at least one node with multiple path segments that branch from the node, and each node includes a respective prompt. The one or more processors determine a route along the map to an endpoint of the phone tree associated with the objective. During the call, the one or more processors navigate the phone tree to reach the endpoint by submitting information in response to the respective prompt at each node along the route that is determined.

    摘要: Provided are methods, data processing systems, recovery components and computer programs for recovering from storage failures affecting data repositories. At least a part of the recovery processing is performed while the data repositories are able to receive new data and to allow retrieval of such new data. Although new data items may be received into the repository and retrieved therefrom during recovery processing, updates to the data repository which were performed before the failure and which are then restored to the repository by the recovery processing are restored within a recovery unit of work and are inaccessible to processes other than the recovery process until successful completion of the recovery unit of work. The recovery processing ensures that the recovered repository is consistent with the state of the repository at the time of the failure, but is available for addition and retrieval of new data items before completion of the recovery processing.

    摘要: The provision of an optimized arrangement for reading tasks at a clamshell or laptop computer, particularly to facilitate reading in portrait mode. Further contemplated herein are arrangements for readily switching between a reading (portrait) operating mode and a “normal” (landscape) mode. Such changes could be brought about via essentially any suitable arrangement, such as via an accelerometer which acts automatically, or a hotkey which is activated manually. Additionally contemplated herein is the use of mouse keys for alternative purposes specific to switching between the reading/portrait modes, such as utilizing left and right mouse buttons for page up and page down controls for reading (in portrait mode). A mouse pad (touchpad) can also be employed for alternative purposes in reading/portrait mode, such as the use of horizontal mouse pad scrolling for vertical document scrolling in reading/portrait mode.

    摘要: An energization range of a laptop PC is controlled for safety component replacement. An EC can communicate with a battery unit to control a FET of the battery unit. In a power-off state, a PWC receives electricity from the battery unit or an AC/DC adapter. In the power-off state, a system of the EC stops. When a housing cover of the laptop PC is opened, a cover switch turns ON. When a logic circuit detects the operation of the cover switch, the PWC controls a DC/DC converter group to activate the system. The EC receiving electricity turns the FET OFF. Then the PWC turns the FET OFF.
