摘要: The amount of elongation of a workpiece during forging can be determined by image processing to calculate the total amount of horizontal movement of marked patterns such as forging scale on the ends of the workpiece which move away from a forging bite during the forging blow. Images of marked patterns before and after a forging blow on both sides of the bite of a forging die are compared to determine the movement of the marked patterns and thus the movement of the ends of the workpiece. A method and system of determining the elongation and vertical displacement of a workpiece during forging is disclosed.

摘要: A lance for feeding an additive wire into a quantity of molten metal below the surface of the molten metal. The lance has an inlet end which receives additive wire and an outlet end which dispenses the additive wire. The lance has an exterior sleeve of cardboard which has an inner surface. A portion of the inner surface of the exterior sleeve contacts an interior sleeve made of a refractory material. At the inlet end of the lance is a cardboard inlet outer sleeve and a cardboard inlet inner sleeve inside of the outer sleeve. The lance can have a coupling for fitting to a wire feeding apparatus.

摘要: An apparatus for the applying of refractory material in 360 degrees while the apparatus is raised or lowered vertically or inserted and retracted horizontally can apply a layer of material continuously on the interior surface of a hot vessel. Wet mixed refractory material is supplied to an applicator and pressurized air is supplied to the applicator so as to rotate a spinner head on the applicator. The apparatus includes a shroud around the housing of the applicator which conveys the pressurized air around the housing to cool the housing below the temperature of the vessel. Also described is a method of applying refractory material by a spinner head on the applicator in the form of a spray to hot metallurgical vessels such as the snorkel tubes of vacuum degassers and ladles.

摘要: A method for obtaining particulate calcium carbonate exhibiting improved brightness and color and having uniformity of size such that when the particles are formed in the causticization process in a kraft pulp mill, the time required to separate the particles from liquors in which they are suspended is minimized and the amount of liquor recovered is maximized, with minimal dilution by water used for washing. The method includes the steps of a) slaking calcium oxide in water or an alkaline liquor containing as dissolved species predominantly sodium hydroxide; b) mixing the slaked lime with green liquor from a kraft pulping process to complete a causticization reaction that produces white liquor and lime mud; c) separating the lime mud from the white liquor; and d) milling a portion of the lime mud for use as a white mineral pigment in applications where such pigments are typically used.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for repairing a protective lining of an industrial reaction or transport vessel, such as a converter vessel, electric arc furnace, or ladle. The method comprises identifying combined areas of the lining having a thickness below a predetermined threshold value by means of a measuring device, which measuring device measures the residual thickness of the lining and a processing unit, which processing unit in a first step transforms the residual thickness data into binary data, by comparing the measured residual thickness data with the predetermined threshold value for the thickness of the lining, and assigning the binary value “1” to areas of the lining having a thickness below the pre-determined threshold value, and the binary value “0” to areas of the lining having a thickness equal or higher than the pre-determined threshold value, or vice versa, in a second step combines isolated areas of the lining having a thickness below the predetermined threshold value into combined areas of the lining to which the binary value for areas of the lining having a thickness below the pre-determined threshold value is assigned, and in a third step computes the position and repair sequence of each of the combined areas and transfers these data to a repair device, and applying monolithic lining material onto the combined areas computed by the processing unit by means of a repair device.
