    摘要: A covered electrode for welding chloride resistant stainless steel of the type containing about 0.04% carbon, 20% chromium, 24% nickel, 5% molybdenum, and balance iron. The covered electrode provides the capability for producing substantially defect-free stainless steel weld deposits that offer excellent resistance to crevice corrosion, as well as general corrosion in chloride containing environments.

    摘要: The invention provides a bath that is operable at, or close to, pH 7 to deposit a coating of ruthenium on a substrate, e.g. the contacts of electrical switches, which does away with the need to provide a protective coating on the substrate prior to ruthenium plating. The bath consists essentially of (i) a compound or a complex that contains a nitrogen bridge linkage joining together two ruthenium atoms and (ii) an aqueous solution of oxalic acid or an oxalate.

    摘要: A self-shielding, flux cored arc welding electrode for joining Ni-Cr-Fe alloys and overlaying dissimilar metals. The wire has a nickel-chromium containing alloy sheath and a flux core containing special proportions of carbonates, fluorides, metal oxides, and powdered metals. Sound welds can be prepared without the use of a supplemental inert shielding gas. Welded joints provide essentially the same properties as those of the Ni-Cr-Fe base alloy.

    摘要: Ferruginous sulfide minerals containing non-ferrous metal values, such as nickel and cobalt are treated to concentrate the non-ferrous metal values in metallic iron. An intimate admixture of finely-divided non-ferrous-metal-bearing ferruginous sulfide minerals, iron oxide, and a suitable reducing agent is maintained at a temperature between about 800.degree. C. and 1000.degree. C. in an atmosphere non-oxidizing to iron to produce a metallic iron alloy containing the non-ferrous metal values from the sulfide minerals. The heated admixture is cooled and the concentrated non-ferrous metal values in the iron alloy are recovered by magnetic separation or hydrocloning.
