All Weather Traffic Monitoring with Roadside Infrastructure

    Abstract: The disclosed system and methodology enable coexistence of networking and sensing on next-generation millimeter-wave (mmWave) picocells for traffic monitoring and pedestrian safety at intersections in all weather conditions. Existing wireless signal-based object detection systems suffer from limited resolution, and their outputs may not provide sufficient discriminatory information in complex scenes, such as traffic intersections. The disclosed system uses 5G picocells, which operate at mmWave frequency bands and provide higher data rates and higher sensing resolution than traditional wireless technology. It is difficult to run sensing applications and data transfer simultaneously on mmWave devices due to potential interference. MmWave devices are vulnerable to weak reflectivity and specularity challenges which may result in loss of information about objects and pedestrians. To address such challenges, the disclosed design uses customized deep learning models that not only can recover missing information about the target scene but also enable coexistence of networking and sensing.

    Abstract: Described herein is an over-the-air computation (OAC) scheme for a federated k-means clustering algorithm to reduce the per-round communication latency when implemented over a wireless network. The OAC scheme relies on an encoder exploiting the representation of a number in a balanced number system and computes the sum of the updates for the federated k-means via signal superposition property of wireless multiple-access channels non-coherently to eliminate the need for precise phase and time synchronization.

    Abstract: Described herein are mechanistic results showing that cis- and trans-RSV have opposite effects on TyrRS-regulated neuronal DNA repair and survival, mechanistically, only cis-RSV protected neurons against stress conditions by activating TyrRS-regulated neuronal DNA repair and resilient signaling; trans-RSV, conversely, facilitated the downregulation of TyrRS resulting in the accumulation of DNA damage and subsequent neurodegeneration. Knockdown of TyrRS blunted the neuroprotective effects of cis-RSV and exacerbated the neurotoxicity by trans-RSV, providing a potential molecular basis for the controversial effects of RSV in clinical studies. The disclosure also provides an oral dosage form comprising an amount of resveratrol comprising a therapeutically effective amount of cis-resveratrol and not more than 200 mg of trans-resveratrol.
