摘要: The present invention provides a vascular insertion sheath with collapsible penetration locators. The collapsible penetration locators provide the insertion sheath with a small outer diameter and the added functionality of precise location indicator. The collapsible penetration locators comprise thin membranes that collapse upon insertion of a sealing device or vascular instrument into the insertion sheath. The insertion sheath includes a reinforced wall according to some embodiments, with a coiled or braided filament for reinforcement.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for sealing a subcutaneous tissue puncture. The method and apparatus increases the reliability of device function by creating a multi-level anchor nest in a carrier tube of a tissue puncture closure device. The multi-level nest allows an insertion sheath or other deployment member to slide between the carrier tube and the anchor to rotate and deploy the anchor within an artery or other lumen.

摘要: The present invention provides vascular insertion sheaths and other tools having penetration locators. The insertion sheaths or other tools also have a switch for controlling fluid flow therethrough. The switch may be a valve or a closed indication chamber that reduces or eliminates blood loss to atmosphere while still providing a visual indication of lumen penetration.

摘要: The present invention is a method of bonding a shaft tip to a distal end of a catheter or sheath shaft. The method includes extruding a shaft to have an initial outside diameter that is greater than an outside diameter the shaft will have when finished. A lap joint area is then ground into the distal end of the shaft. The tip is then insert molded over the lap joint area. The tip includes a collar at a proximal end of the tip that provides additional thermal mass to facilitate the bonding of the tip to the shaft. The shaft is then ground from its initial outside diameter to its finished outside diameter.

摘要: The present invention is directed to an anchor that is configured to minimize or overcome lateral rotational moments that could potentially cause the anchor to laterally roll out of its intended position during use. The anchor is shaped to allow for a low profile longitudinal position and expanded transverse position. A device is used to initially insert the anchor in the low profile longitudinal position and then longitudinally rotate the anchor into the expanded transverse position when it is inserted through an incision or opening. The anchor is positioned at an internal portion of the incision or opening such that it seals an internal side of the incision. A sealing plug positioned at an external portion of the incision or opening. The sealing plug and anchor are cinched together with a suture to facilitate rapid healing of the incision or opening.

摘要: An intravascular catheter (e.g. guide or diagnostic catheter) that includes a specially designed distal tip to provide enhanced back-up support. The distal tip (e.g., distal 2 cm of the shaft) has a lateral extent or profile (e.g., wave shape) that is larger than the lumen of the coronary artery adjacent the ostium when the tip is in a relaxed state. The over-sized lateral extent causes the distal tip to frictionally engage the coronary artery and anchor within the ostium. The lateral extent or profile of the distal tip may be decreased by inserting a guide wire therethrough to facilitate insertion of the distal tip into the ostium. After the distal tip is inserted into the ostium, the guide wire may be removed to allow the lateral extent of the distal tip to increase and thereby anchor the distal tip in the ostium.
