Abstract:
A method of monitoring for security events using a speech recognition system can include receiving a sound signal within the speech recognition system and determining at least one attribute of the sound signal. The attribute of the sound signal can be compared with one or more acoustic models associated with a security event. The method can further include identifying the sound signal as a security event according to the comparing step.
Abstract:
The invention includes a method of scheduling cyclic steaming of a group of petroleum-containing wells including: inputting to a production-predicting means a group of data describing at least in part the past cyclic steaming and resulting production of a group of petroleum-containing wells; processing the data in the production-predicting means and outputting a group of production predictions for the group of wells during a future steaming cycle; inputting the group of production predictions into an optimization means; inputting an initial steaming cycle schedule for the group of wells into the optimization means; processing the group of production predictions and the initial steaming cycle schedule in the optimization means by the steps including: determining a ranking for the initial steaming cycle schedule for the group of production predictions against a pre-determined ranking criteria; producing a group of new steaming cycle schedules based on the ranking of the initial steaming cycle a schedule optimization algorithm; determining a ranking for the new steaming cycle schedules against the pre-determined ranking criteria; repeating the production of new steaming cycle schedules and determining ranking steps until some pre-determined termination criteria is met; and outputting a final steaming cycle schedule.
Abstract:
A vehicle opening monitoring device for monitors and indicates the presence of unclosed openings of a vehicle when the vehicle is being locked. The device includes a vehicle having a plurality of openings. Each of the openings has a closed position and an open position. A vehicle locking assembly is coupled to the vehicle for locking doors of the vehicle. Each of a plurality of monitors detects when an associated one of the openings is in the closed position. Each monitor is communicatively coupled to a processor operationally coupled to the vehicle locking assembly. The processor allows locking of the vehicle locking assembly when the monitors detect all the openings are in the closed position.
Abstract:
A method for monitoring an Internet connection can include the step of detecting a connectivity problem with a household Internet connection. A problem contact point can be determined. A communication connection that is different from the household Internet connection can be established with the contact point. For example, a voice connection can be established with the contact point. A problem notification can be conveyed to the contact point through the established communication connection.

Abstract:
The present invention includes a method and system for heat management in an oil field, the method including the steps of, on a first time interval: determine a thermal maturity for each subsurface region associated with a pattern of oil wells in the oil field, input the thermal maturity output from step (a)(i) and determine a latent heat target and steam injection target for each subsurface region; and input the latent heat target and steam injection target output from step (a)(ii) and a subsurface region development plan and recalibrate a steam optimizer policy engine, on a second time interval: using the recalibrated steam optimizer policy engine from step (a)(iii) and operating data, determine steam injection schedules; and collect operating data; and on a third time interval: input the thermal maturity output from step (i) and perform a periodic look-back process, thereby producing deviations from latent heat targets; and input the deviations from latent heat targets from step (c)(i) and re-determine the subsurface region development plan.
Abstract:
A method of accessing voice services through a personal computing system can include receiving, in the personal computing system, a telephone call from a user registered with the personal computing system, wherein the user is remotely located from the personal computing system, receiving a user spoken utterance over the telephone call, and speech recognizing the user spoken utterance to determine a request for a voice service. The method further can include formatting an electronic message according to the request for a voice service and sending the electronic message over a communications network to a remote computing system in accordance with the request for a voice service. Also, the method can include processing and formatting a response received from the remote computing system and playing back audio to the user over the telephone call.
Abstract:
A method, a system, and an apparatus for permitting a user to remain in contact with at least one other person. The present invention provides a method, a system, and an apparatus that is capable of enabling a user to remain in contact with others through a service that checks contacts set up in a predetermined contact list. The contact list is then contacted and the user is contacted with the results. As such, the present invention permits the user to remain in contact with a significant number of entities while saving time and effort by ensuring the user is only contacted with certain information. The system and method also permits the user to remain in contact even when the user is unavailable.
Abstract:
A method for handling an off-hook event can include the step of detecting an off-hook event with a modem communicatively linked to a circuit loop in which the off-hook event occurs. The detection can be based upon audible information conveyed within the circuit loop. At least one programmatic action can be initiated with a computing device communicatively linked to the modem. An off-hook notification can be conveyed as a result of the programmatic action.
