摘要： A connector for removably attaching fiberoptic cables to light-transmitting implements such as translucent probes and projection optics is shown and described. A tube is provided with a sleeve which may be fit over the tube. With the sleeve partially fit over the tube, the cable may be inserted in one end of the tube and the implement in the other end. When the sleeve is then pulled or threaded more fully over the tube, tongues provided on the tube move into engagement with the implement and fingers on the tube are locked in place against the cable.

摘要： A matrix of valves being formed using a sandwich of three layers with a pliable membrane interposed between two of the layers. Supply channels and delivery channels are created through etching, routing, or other such means on the middle layer. Each supply channel communicates with all of the delivery channels via a valve location which is opened or closed by pneumatic pressure on the pliable membrane. Movement of the pliable membrane is affected through suction or pressure as communicated via holes in the overlying layer. In this manner, selected supply and delivery lines are connected by appropriate suction being placed on the membrane. Selected valves are simultaneously opened to provide parallel operations.

摘要： A metering brake including a housing mountable on the frame of a shopping cart wheel. A locking pin projects through the housing and is biased to engage a stop carried on the wheel but is held from such engagement by a pivotal holding bracket. Metering means within the housing includes a cam follower driven by a cam mounted on the wheel and, after a predetermined distance, moves a trip element into engagement with the holding bracket to release the lock pin to engage the stop thereby braking the cartwheel. An actuator is provided for actuating the metering means as the cart leaves the store and reset means is provided for retracting the lock pin and resetting the metering means when the cart is retrieved.

摘要： A multi-channel separation device is provided for use in separation technology, particularly in electrophoresis and in isoelectric focusing. The device includes two mating plates, at least one of which contains an array of at least three cavities arranged to define a serpentine fluid pathway through the cavities when the plates are mated. Each of the cavities includes fluid input and output ports to facilitate transfer of process fluid through the cavities. A septum is disposed between the plates for streamlining fluid flow between the input and output ports by restricting but not preventing free fluid flow between adjacent cavities. The device also includes anodic and cathodic compartments containing electrodes for establishing an electric field across the cavities.

摘要： A toggle switch housed in a body and including a generally rectangular conductive blade pivotally mounted on a central conductive terminal post provided with fulcrum support means including one or two fulcrum supports, the blade being capable of assuming two or three operative positions relative to a pair of conductive terminal posts flanking the central post, depending upon pivotal swinging of the blade about the fulcrum support means, which contacts the blade centrally of its width. A dielectric actuator tip, pivotally mounted centrally in the body, is resiliently biased toward the blade and includes a bifurcated portion terminating in a pair of spaced toes slidably contacting the blade along parallel paths spaced on opposite sides of the fulcrum support means.
