摘要: A process for the spraying of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) is presented, which has a comparatively high solids content, onto a surface, thus forming a stable and homogeneous film coating of MFC on said surface. Therein, the MFC of the comparatively high solids content is subjected to a pressure drop in a nozzle, which pressure drop exerts shear pressure onto the MFC, thus lowering the viscosity during the spraying and coating process.

摘要: The present invention relates to a composition for use as an adhesive, paint, coating, resin, (surface) size, composite, gel or hydrogel, said composition comprising microfibrillated cellulose (“MFC”). In addition to microfibrillated cellulose, these compositions comprise at least one solvent, said solvent preferably comprising or consisting of water, and at least one compound that is (a) capable of polymerizing, or has already partly or fully, polymerized, and that (b) has at least two groups available for hydrogen bonding, preferably OH groups, that are capable of crosslinking with at least one functional group of the microfibrillated cellulose. In these compositions, the microfibrillated cellulose primarily functions as a crosslinking agent (while it is by no means excluded that the microfibrillated cellulose additionally has other functionalities, such as acting as viscosity modifier and/or thixotropic additive), integrating the compound that (a) is capable of polymerizing or that has already partly or fully, polymerized, and that (b) has at least two groups available for hydrogen bonding, into a gel-like three-dimensional network.

摘要: The present invention relates to a system for the compact packaging of microfibrillated cellulose, which comprises a packaging, which comprises at least one polymer material. Said packaging encompasses a content that essentially consists of microfibrillated cellulose (“MFC”) that is present as a suspension in a solvent. The resulting system is of an essentially round or essentially rectangular or oval outer circumference, as defined by the dimensions of the packaging once fully filled out by the content. The system of the invention has the advantage, among others, to provide a solid and firm essentially round packaging shape. The resulting units of packaged MFC can be easily stacked on a pallet. The packaging maintains the water retention capacity of the suspension (paste). The present invention also relates to a process for making such a system.

摘要: The present invention relates to starch-based adhesive compositions comprising microfibrillated cellulose (“MFC”). In addition to microfibrillated cellulose, these adhesive compositions comprise at least one starch and/or at least one starch derivative. The adhesive compositions have a reduced amount of caustic soda vis-a-vis adhesive compositions that do not comprise MFC as an additive. Borax or boric acid (or any derivative thereof) may be partially or fully replaced with microfibrillated cellulose, wherein MFC (contrary to borax) surprisingly does not significantly affect the gel temperature of the overall adhesive.

摘要: Formulations and methods of making wood pellets treated with lignin sulfonate as an anti-autooxidative component to reduce the rate of self-heating of bulk wood pellets. The lignin sulfonate may be used as a binder in the wood pellets or the wood pellets may be sprayed with lignin sulfonate for an encapsulated wood pellet. Wood pellets having the lignin sulfonate have a lowered potential of self-heating below high reactivity pellets and better structural durability during storage and transportation without adversely affecting the fuel value of the wood pellets.
