    摘要: An article of manufacture comprises a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl aromatic monomer having a molecular weight of less than 15,000. Preferably, the copolymer is characterized by a backbone having a first and second terminal end group, the first terminal end group is a methyl group, the second terminal end group is a vinyl group, wherein the ratio of the terminal methyl group to the terminal vinyl group is 0.8:1 to 1:0.8. The article of manufacture includes, but is not limited to, waxes, lubricants, additives, etc. The waxes may be used to formulate paints and coatings, printing inks, carbon paper, photo toners, building and construction materials, mold release agents, hot melt adhesives, candles. The waxes may also be used in wood processing, metal working, powder metallurgy and sintering, wax modeling, sizing, crop protection, and so on.

    摘要: A supported catalyst composition comprising a complex of a Group 4 metal cyclopentadienyl derivative reacted with silica treated with an aluminoxane demonstrates improved reactivity, especially for incorporating long chain alpha-olefins and also shows improved resistance to catalyst poisoning. The supported catalyst composition is adapted to produce homogeneous polymers, copolymers, terpolymers, etc., for example, homogeneous polyethylene, homogeneous poly(ethylene-octene) copolymers and the like. The invention further includes the process of preparing the supported catalyst compositions and a process for preparing olefinic polymers using these catalyst compositions.

    摘要: Novel catalyst compositions comprising a cationic transition metal complex of the formula(Pd(II)S.sub.4-x L.sub.x).sup.+2 (A).sup.-n ywherein:Pd(II) is palladium having a valence of +2;S is a synthesis solvent;L is a monodendate, bidendate or tridendate ligand or ligands having one or more bonding sites;x is an integer from 1 to 3 and is equal to the total number of ligand bonding sites;A is a weakly or non-coordinating anion capable or stabilizing the complex in its cationic form; andn is 1 or 2 and y is 2 or 1;provided that(i) when n is 1, y is 2 and when n is 2, y is 1; and(ii) when the anion A is tetrafluoroborate, the organometallic complex is not (tris(acetonitrile) palladium(II) triphenylphosphine), bis(acetonitrile) palladium(II) bis(triphenylphosphine)), ((acetonitrile) palladium (II) tris(triphenylphosphine)) or (bis(acetonitrile)palladium(II) 1,3-bis (diphenylphosphino)propane). The new catalyst compositions are useful for the copolymerization of carbon monoxide and at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon to produce linear alternating polymers. The rate of polymerization is enhanced by including an alcohol, such as methanol, in the polymerization mixture.

    摘要: A new process of interpolymerizing ethylene interpolymer products having improved properties, such as increased onset of crystallization temperature, is disclosed. Preferably, the process comprises interpolymerizing a first homogeneous ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer and at least one second homogeneous ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer using at least two constrained geometry catalysts having different reactivities such that the first ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer has a narrow molecular weight distribution (NMWD) with a very high comonomer content and relatively high molecular weight and the second ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer has a NMWD with a low comonomer content and a molecular weight lower than that of the first interpolymer. The resultant first homogeneous interpolymer is combined with the resultant second homogeneous interpolymer in appropriate weight ratios resulting in the desired finished polymer structure. The first interpolymer and the second interpolymer can be polymerized in a single reactor or they can be polymerized in separate reactors operated in parallel or series.
