Abstract: An electrically operated machine has a bi-manual or double button control system which requires an operator to depress both buttons to institute operation, provision being made that both buttons have to be operated within a delay period thus preventing one or other button being wedged-on. If operation of both buttons does not occur within the delay period the circuit is disabled and can only be re-enabled by releasing both buttons.

Abstract: In control circuits for controlling D.C. electric motors, the motor is supplied in pulses so that the mean power supplied to the motor is varied by varying the frequency and/or mark-space ratio of the generator pulses. In such arrangements electrical braking is obtained by reversing the field winding connections but the field current has to be kept relatively low even for heavy braking. In the present invention means are provided for ascertaining if the armature current exceeds the field current during each pulse of current and for restricting the range of current which can be applied to the motor if the armature current exceeds the field current by a predetermined amount.

Abstract: A control means for a series electric motor for, for example, battery operated vehicle usually includes a DC switch for connecting said motor across a battery, a flywheel diode for connecting across the motor and a reverse diode for conducting armature current resulting from regeneration. Abstract: In some control systems for controlling the supply of electrical energy from a battery to the electric motor of a vehicle it is desirable in certain circumstances to use the maximum available current which may be in excess of that available through a thyristor type D.C. switch.
