In this regard, a ballscrew assembly is provided comprising a ballscrew having a ballscrew stop, a ballnut having a ballnut stop, wherein contact between the ballnut stop and the ballscrew stop impede rotation of the ballscrew relative to the ballnut. The ballnut stop may comprise an axial mating surface and the ballscrew stop may comprise an axial mating surface. Additionally, the ballnut may comprise threads axially spaced a first distance apart and the ballnut stop comprises a surface having length equal to the first distance.

摘要: A disc brake caliper assembly is provided that includes a housing having a bore. A piston is arranged within the bore and is movable between normal retracted and knock-back positions. A linkage is adjacent to the piston and is movable between first and second positions with a clearance between the piston and the linkage in the first position. The clearance undesirably permits the piston to move to the knock-back position during severe operating conditions. An actuator, which also may be used as part an electric parking brake, moves the linkage from the first position to the second position to eliminate the clearance when the linkage is moved from the first position to the second position where the linkage abuts the piston. The linkage is connected to the caliper housing by a support. The linkage prevents the piston from moving from the normal retracted position to the knock-back position. In operation, the present invention prevents piston knock-back by sending an adjustment signal from a controller to the actuator at a predetermined interval. The signal commands the actuator to move a linkage from the first to the second position where the linkage abuts the piston. In this manner, the linkage prevents the piston from moving from a normal retracted position to a knock-back position.

摘要: A brake caliper. A motor rotates a ball screw which translates a ball nut and a first drive pin. Translation of the first drive pin rotates a first brake lever attached to an eccentric cam shaft having a cam portion. Rotation of the cam portion on the eccentric cam shaft translates a piston shaft assembly, a piston head attached to the piston shaft assembly, and a first brake pad attached to the piston head. The first brake lever is attachable to, and rotatable by, a manually-actuated parking brake cable. This allows operation of the parking brake to stop the vehicle in an emergency should the motor fail to operate from whatever cause including loss of power.

摘要: A variable pitch screw-driven system includes a rotatable drive screw powered by a motor actuator. A cam sleeve includes a nut section and is disposed about the drive screw and is linearly translatable in response to rotation of the drive screw. The cam sleeve includes a cam track with a fixed cam follower positioned to travel within a cam track. Linear translation of the cam sleeve is altered by tracking of the cam follower within the cam track such that rotation of the cam sleeve is effected simultaneously with rotation of the drive screw resulting in an effective variable pitch of the variable pitch screw-driven system wherein linear translation of the cam sleeve results from both rotation of the drive screw and rotation of the cam sleeve.

摘要: A disc brake caliper assembly has a housing with a bore. A piston in the bore is movable between applied, retracted and knock-back positions. The piston is activatable by hydraulic pressure to move from the retracted position to the applied position; and a retracting seal is effective in the absence of the hydraulic pressure to move the piston from the applied position to the retracted position. A linkage adjacent the piston carries a stop; and an actuator is responsive to an end of brake activation signal to cause the linkage to engage the stop with the piston when the piston is retracted from its applied position to its retracted position so as to prevent the piston from moving from the retracted position to the knock-back position. The actuator is preferably a comparatively weak electric motor that stalls as the stop engages the piston; and the stall is sensed to end motor activation. The end of brake activation signal is preferably provided by a brake position or pressure sensor. The apparatus is adaptable to an electronic park brake control.

摘要: The invention provides an electric brake caliper that includes a caliper housing have a rotor channel adapted to receive a rotor therein, where the rotor channel has a first axial surface adapted to seat an outer brake pad thereon. The brake caliper also includes a piston assembly mounted to the housing on an axial side of the rotor channel opposite that of the outer brake pad. The piston assembly includes: (a) a piston nut, reciprocatable towards and away from the rotor channel, where the piston nut is adapted to seat an inner brake pad thereon, (b) a cylindrical screw threaded into the piston nut, where the screw includes a coaxial, cylindrical bore extending therein, and (c) a planetary gear train positioned within the cylindrical bore of the screw, where the planetary gear train includes a motor-driven, central sun gear, at least one coaxial tube ring gear and at least one planetary pinion operatively engaged between the sun gear and the tube ring gear and carried on a revolving carrier, where the revolving carrier includes an output shaft extending therefrom, coaxial with, and coupled to the screw. The planetary pinion is axially slidable with respect to the tube ring gear such that any returning force applied by the inner brake pad against the planetary gear train of the piston assembly will be borne primarily by the tube ring gear, and thus, will not substantially adversely affect the operation of the planetary pinion and associated sun gear.
