Abstract:
Flow control devices and methods of using the flow control devices are provided. In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides a cassette (30) comprising a housing (32) having a constrictor (34), a tube (36) attached to the housing and positioned through the constrictor, and a ball positioned inside the tube. The constrictor can be constructed and arranged to prevent the ball (38) from moving through the tube at the location proximate the constrictor. The ball can prevent fluid flow in one position and be dislodged to allow fluid flow when the cassette is positioned inside a pumping device. As a result, the cassette is designed to prevent free flow of fluid when an enteral feeding tube set is not installed in a pumping device.
Abstract:
A method for the purification of aromatic polyether polymers prepared by a halide displacement polymerization process comprises adsorbing the catalyst with an alkali metal halide to form an adsorbent component and then removing the adsorbent component. Mixtures resulting from this method are also discussed.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides cassettes and methods of using same for the delivery of fluids to a patient using fluid delivery systems. In a general embodiment, the cassettes of the present disclosure include a flexible tube, a housing having a recessed area and first and second ends for holding the flexible tube, and at least two additional components including, for example, different sensors, false reading components for sensors, anti-flow valve means, insertion guides, directional indicators, latch mechanisms, kink-prevention notches, etc. Such additional components provide the cassettes of the present disclosure with several advantages including, for example, quality control, efficiency of use, cost effectiveness, and safety of use.

Abstract:
An intense field dielectric air filtration system includes a perimeter frame for wall or ceiling mounting at the inlet of a return air duct for an air conditioning apparatus. A door including a grille disposed thereon is mounted for movement on the frame between working and non-working positions for access to an air filter unit, a pre-filter unit and an intense field particle charging unit. Contacts on the filter unit and the field charging unit engage cooperating contacts on an enclosure mounted on the frame when the door is closed to supply electrical power. An interlock is provided to interrupt power when the door is moved to an open position or the grille is removed. A control system disposed in the enclosure includes user control features accessible when the door is in an open position. An alternate embodiment includes a support frame for positioning the filtration system in ductwork or the like other than a return air inlet.
Abstract:
A tool for working a workpiece has a slot provided between a pair of extremities at its distal end. The extremities have cutting blades mounted thereon. The slot is configured to receive a plate. The tool has a conduit running along its axis for communication of pressurized fluid to the slot and plate. The plate directs flow of the pressurized fluid outward toward the extremities. The resulting outward force causes the extremities to bend outward, thereby urging the cutting blades outward for cutting, reaming, or other working of the workpiece. The resilience of the tool causes the extremities to return back inward when the fluid pressure is reduced. A plate may be configured to receive a wafer for transferring force from the pressurized fluid to the extremities.
Abstract:
A method of separating a polymer-solvent mixture is described wherein a polymer-solvent mixture is heated prior to its introduction into an extruder comprising an upstream vent and/or a side feeder vent to allow flash evaporation of the solvent, and downstream vents for removal of remaining solvent. The one-step method is highly efficient having very high throughput rates while at the same time providing a polymer product containing low levels of residual solvent.
Abstract:
Fine-grained and/or equiaxed coatings, substantially free from columnar structure, are deposited on substrates by chemical vapor deposition by directing the flow of reactant gases to the substrate with high velocity and in close proximity thereto, most often at a velocity gradient of at least about 1050 and preferably at least about 2000 cm./cm.-sec. The deposition process is preferably conducted while moving the substrate so as to coat large areas thereof. By this method, tungsten and/or rhenium X-ray targets having excellent properties under conditions of rapid temperature cycling may be produced.

Flow control devices.—In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides a cassette (30) comprising a housing having a flow restrictor (34), and a tube (36) attached to the housing and positioned adjacent the flow restrictor. The flow restrictor may be so constructed and arranged to rotate from a first position in which the flow restrictor prevents fluid flow through the tube to a second position in which fluid is able to flow through the tube when the cassette is positioned inside a pumping device. As a result, the cassette is designed to prevent free flow of fluid when an enteral feeding tube set is not installed in a pumping device.
Abstract:
Methods of conducting thrombectomy procedures and deploying a thrombectomy catheter are disclosed. A thrombectomy procedure is conducted with a thrombectomy catheter deployment system. A drive unit configured to operate an infusion pump is provided. The drive unit is operable according to one or more operating modes. A preconnected and consolidated pump and catheter assembly configured for loading in the drive unit is also provided. The assembly is separate from the drive unit prior to loading. The infusion pump and a catheter of the assembly are in communication prior to loading. The assembly provides one or more digital instructions to the drive unit. The drive unit is operable according to the one or more operating modes referenced by the one or more digital instructions. The assembly is loaded into the drive unit, and the drive unit is engaged to the infusion pump for operation of the infusion pump.
