Abstract:
A system and method for making a layered dental appliance. The system can include a first portion comprising a negative of a first layer of a layered dental appliance, and a second portion comprising a positive shape of a second layer of the layered dental appliance. The method can include providing a mold comprising a negative of an outer shape of a layered dental appliance, and positioning a slurry in the mold, forming a first layer of the layered dental appliance. The method can further include providing a solid structure comprising a positive shape of a second layer of the layered dental appliance, and pressing the solid structure into the slurry in the mold.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for attaching a dental facing on a dental support structure comprising water, a glass and/or glass ceramic material, a rheological modifier with a molecular weight above about 500,000. The invention also relates to a process comprising the steps: providing a dental facing precursor and a dental support structure, both having an upper and a lower surface, attaching the dental facing precursor with its lower surface to the upper surface of the dental support structure, comprising the step of placing a mating composition between the lower surface of the dental facing precursor and the upper surface of the dental support structure and to the use of the inventive composition for producing dental restorations.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing a dental appliance, the process comprising the steps of a) providing a mixture of a liquid, an inorganic binder precursor being able to undergo a sol/gel reaction and a glass or glass ceramic powder, b) casting the mixture into a mould, c) drying the cast mixture in the mould to obtain a machinable dental appliance, d) optionally machining the dental appliance to obtain a dental workpiece, e) optionally removing the dental appliance or dental workpiece from the mould, f) optionally sintering the dental appliance or dental workpiece and to a dental appliance obtainable by such a process.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a colouring solution for colouring a dental ceramic article, the solution comprising: a solvent and a colouring agent, comprising rare earth element metals or ions being present in the solution in an amount of at least about 0.05 mol/l solvent and transition metals or ions being present in the solution in an amount of about 0.00001 to about 0.05 mol/l solvent. The invention also relates to a process for colouring dental ceramic articles, dental ceramic articles treated either with the colouring solution or obtainable by a process comprising the step of firing the dental ceramic articles.
Abstract:
A method is provided for making a dental restoration at a certain tooth color shade. The method comprises joining a veneer precursor, a framework and a compensation material to form the dental restoration. The tooth color shade is selected from among a continuous range of tooth color shades, but individual components of the dental restoration may be selected from discrete color shades. Further, a dental restoration, a kit and a use of the kit are provided in accordance with the invention.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to coatings that possess a dynamic contact angle hysteresis in water, measured by means of a Wilhelmy balance according to DIN EN 14370, of at most 15°, and are can be manufactured from star-shaped prepolymers and/or star-shaped prepolymer-nanoparticle complexes that are cross-linkable with one another and with the surface of the substrate to be coated, the star-shaped prepolymers and/or star-shaped prepolymer-nanoparticle complexes possessing, before being cross-linked, at least three hydrophilic polymer arms that, considered of themselves, are soluble in water, and that carry on all or on some of their free ends R1 silyl terminal groups of the following general formula (I): R1 is —CRa2—Si(ORb)r(Rc)3-r, where Ra denotes hydrogen or a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, ORb denotes a hydrolyzable group, Rc denotes a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and r denotes a number from 1 to 3, and that carry, on the optionally present ends not carrying silyl terminal groups, reactive groups that are reactive with respect to themselves, the substrate to be coated, entities optionally introduced into the coating, and/or with the silyl terminal groups. The present invention furthermore relates to a method for manufacturing such coatings, and to star-shaped prepolymers that are used in the coatings. The invention moreover relates to use of the star-shaped prepolymers as additives to various agents for temporary or permanent anti-soiling finishing of surfaces.
