Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to apparatus and methods for expanding a tubular. In one embodiment, an expander tool includes a body having at least one recess therein. An expansion assembly disposable in the at least one recess includes a piston that outwardly extends from the body in response to a radially outward force. The expansion assembly includes one or more rollers disposed on a shaft such that the rollers rotate at different speeds. In order to improve a rolling ratio, the shaft is arranged on the piston at an outward angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the tool. The expansion assembly is disposed along the tool at a skew to provide tractoring and reduce slippage due to axial movement. A bearing adjacent the roller and rotationally secured to the roller reduces roller heating and wear. In another aspect, methods for expanding a tubular within a wellbore are provided.
Abstract:
A diagramming tool is provided that allows a diagram to be defined as a specialization of a “parent” diagram. The “child” diagram is defined based on the “parent” diagram such that the child diagram references the parent and contains only nodes and edges which represent differences between the instant diagram and its parent diagram. A diagram inherits all of the nodes and edges, and their properties, of its parent and adds, deletes, or redefines the nodes and/or edges that represent the differences or specializations.
Abstract:
A system is provided for substantially continuously monitoring an electromagnetic intensity of short bursts of electromagnetic waves (E-waves) having frequencies within a broad frequency range. The system includes at least one antenna capable of detecting one or more bursts of E-waves and converting the bursts into radio frequency (RF) signals having an energy level correlated to the intensities of the E-waves. The system additionally includes at least one broadband equalizer that normalizes the energy levels of RF signals across the broad range of frequencies and at least one amplifier that amplifies the energy levels of the RF signals output by the broadband equalizer. The system further includes at least one RF peak power sensor for measuring the energy levels of the RF signals output from the amplifier and determining the peak power level of at least one peak RF signal that has the highest energy level. Further yet, the system includes at least one power meter that converts the peak power level of the peak RF signal to power units and a computer based device that utilizes the power units output by the peak power measurement subsystem to determine the strength of the E-wave correlated with the peak RF signal.
Abstract:
A user-powered seat uplift apparatus including a structural frame unit, a mechanical uplift assembly unit and a power transfer mechanism connecting the two units allows the user to more easily obtain a standing position from a previous seated position. The structural frame unit is used to support and guide the mechanical uplift assembly unit. The mechanical uplift unit has two sections which can independently move vertically with respect to the structural frame unit. One section has a seat, the other has rails. When downward force is applied on the rails, the section having the rails moves vertically downward and produces an upward force in the section having the seat through the power transfer mechanism. This interface allows the user to more easily uplift themselves from a seated position and is especially useful for older and/or medically disabled persons.
Abstract:
A reciprocating exercise apparatus is provided which enables the user to exercise lower body muscle groups. The apparatus includes a frame structure means, a user support means having a seat, and a user engagement means. The back end of the user engagement means is pivotally mounted to the frame structure means. An engagement assembly is mounted to the front end of the user engagement means via an assembly support, with the assembly support capable of moving in the upward and downward directions. The lower end of the assembly support is connected by a wheel member to a guide member, which is mounted on the frame structure means. To normally operate the device, the user sits in the seat and pushes against the engagement assembly, with the general thigh portion of the leg, in either the downward, upward, and/or side directions. The wheel member will follow the contour of the guide member. Optional items may include a back support member, handle members, a resistance means, and/or a motor means.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for expanding tubulars are disclosed. The tubulars may be part of a tubular string for isolating one or more zones within a wellbore. In one embodiment, the tubular string includes a first expandable zone isolation unit disposed on a first side of a zone to be isolated, a second expandable zone isolation unit disposed on a second side of the zone to be isolated, and a perforated tubular disposed in fluid communication with a producing zone. The tubular string may be expanded using an expansion assembly having a first expander for expanding the first and second expandable zone isolation units and a second expander for expanding the at least one perforated tubular. Tags or markers along the tubular string may indicate locations where expansion is desired such that connections or connectors between joints are not expanded.
Abstract:
A water vaporization apparatus is provided which uses the heat from the sun to vaporize water from a water collection means. The water collection means has a water container member which may be partially submerged in a water reservoir, or connected to a remote reservoir of water. The water container member has a water transport member connected to it, through which water from the water reservoir may move into the water container member. The water from the reservoir will move into the water container member as the sun vaporizes water from the water container member, since the water levels will naturally try and reach equilibrium. An electricity generation means may be operatively connected to the water collection means in such a manner that the movement of the water through said water transport member may be used to generate electricity. In an alternate configuration, a water condenser means may be connected to the water collection means in such a manner that the vaporized water may be transformed back into liquid form, for use as drinking water and/or industrial water. The electricity generation means and the water condenser means may also be used simultaneously by the same apparatus.
Abstract:
A turnable exercise apparatus is provided which enables the user to exercise both upper and lower body muscle groups. The apparatus includes a frame structure means, an upper body engagement means, and a lower body engagement means. The upper and lower body engagement means are coupled to the frame structure means. The user operates the apparatus while in a generally lying position. The user may push and pull backward and forward upon two handle members with their hands, which are part of the hand engagement means. This motion is transferred into a pivoting motion of the lower body engagement means, which is engaged by the legs of the user. Alternately, the user may pivot the lower body engagement means with their legs, and move said handle members of said upper body engagement means in the foward and backward directions. The lower body engagement means is pivotally coupled to the frame structure means such that the lower body engagement means may be pivoted in the forward, backward, and side directions.
Abstract:
A system is provided for substantially continuously monitoring an electromagnetic intensity of short pulses of electromagnetic fields (E-fields) having frequencies within a broad frequency range. The system includes at least one antenna capable of sensing one or more pulses of E-fields and converting the pulses into radio frequency (RF) signals having an energy level correlated to the intensities of the E-fields. The system additionally includes at least one equalizer that normalizes the energy levels of RF signals across the broad range of frequencies and at least one modulation device that adjusts the energy levels of the RF signals output by the equalizer. The system further includes at least one RF power sensor for periodically measuring the energy levels of the RF signals output from the modulation device. Further yet, the system includes at least one power meter that determines the peak power level of at least one peak RF signal that has the highest energy level and converts the peak power level of the peak RF signal to power units. Still further yet, the system includes a computer based device that utilizes the power units output by the peak power measurement subsystem to determine the intensity of the E-field correlated with the peak RF signal as sensed by the antenna.
