    摘要: A system for suspending a video disc signal pickup stylus arm incorporated with a permanent magnet which is part of a motive means for providing stylus-disc velocity corrections. The permanent magnet is constraind in a flexible "H" shaped suspension to maintain the magnet in a fixed orientation while undergoing translation. The stylus arm is compliantly coupled to the "H" shaped suspension colinear with the magnet. Off axis forces on the magnet are precluded from imparting off axis forces to the stylus arm, thereby eliminating the stimuli which create mechanical resonances in the stylus arm.

A position sensor detects the position of a playback stylus relative to the carriage assembly for translating the stylus radially across the disc. The position sensor output signals energize a stylus skipper mechanism to translate the stylus a prescribed number of information tracks in accordance with the stylus carriage bias exceeding a threshold value. The carriage is manually moved across the record with the sensor and skipper mechanism cooperating to translate the stylus in consonance with the carriage movement.

    摘要: In a video disc system, the picture display is adversely affected by intermodulation distortion occuring in the signals recovered from the disc record. A non-linear circuit, responsive to a bias signal, generates a compensation signal in a diode modulator for cancelling the undesired distortion components of the recovered signal. The resulting distortion after cancellation is measured in a comparator circuit to determine if the distortion has increased or decreased. The comparator circuitry outputs an appropriate signal to bias the non-linear circuit to further reduce the distortion components. A small oscillation is superimposed on this bias signal, which oscillation simplifies the comparator circuitry and forces the circuit to search for an optimum operating point.

    摘要: An apparatus for fusing a polymer powder deposited on a surface of a faceplate panel of a cathode-ray tube comprises a housing having a faceplate support surface and enclosing a chamber. A shutter adjacent to the panel support surface separates the faceplate panel from the chamber. A reservoir for holding a solvent is within the chamber and at least one piezoelectric transducer communicates with the reservoir for atomizing the solvent to create a fog. A fan within the chamber distributes the fog onto the polymer powder. A method for fusing the polymer powder onto the faceplate panel also is described.

    摘要: A disc master, coated with an electron sensitive material, is secured to a turntable which is rotatably mounted within a vacuum chamber. A recorder column protrudes into the vacuum chamber for directing a signal representative electron beam toward the disc master. The recorder column is mounted on a carriage for translational motion along a path radially disposed with respect to the center of rotation of the turntable in correlation with the rotational motion of the turntable. A column set-up stage is mounted within the vacuum chamber, adjacent the outside perimeter of a turntable supported disc master, and in registration with the coated surface of the disc master. The recorder column is aligned with the set-up stage for determining beam characteristics, such as: beam current, shape, quality, etc., and for properly focusing the electron beam.

    摘要: In an electrophotographic process for manufacturing a luminescent screen assembly on an interior surface of a faceplate panel of a CRT, the panel is first coated with a conductive layer and then overcoated with a photoconductive layer. A substantially uniform charge is established on the photoconductive layer. Selected areas of the photoconductive layer are exposed to actinic radiation, through a shadow mask, to affect the charge on the layer. The unexposed areas of the photoconductive layer are developed with triboelectrically-charged, dry-powdered, light-absorptive screen structure material. The photoconductive layer is reexposed to further discharge those open areas free of the light absorptive material while retaining the charge on those areas having light absorptive matrix material thereon. The reexposure increases the voltage contrast between the exposed and the unexposed areas of the photoconductive layer. A second development of the unexposed areas of the photoconductive layer deposits additional light-absorptive screen structure material on the previously deposited material to increase the opacity of the matrix formed thereby.

    摘要: A video disc player includes a pick-up cartridge in which the stylus is supported by a stylus holder that is mechanically resonant at a frequency within an audio frequency range. A pick-up converter coupled to the stylus provides a broad audio video output signal that is undesirably modulated due to the stylus holder mechanical resonance. The audio signal is demodulated to baseband and linearly combined with the un-demodulated broadband signal to provide a resultant audio output signal in which audio frequency noise components, due to the mechanical resonance of the resulus holder, are attenuated.
