Abstract:
A cushioning device for use on skin, such as on a finger or foot, comprising a cushioning layer having a skin side and an outer side and an ultra-hydrophilic pressure-sensitive adhesive layer coupled to the skin side of the cushioning layer.
Abstract:
Stable sulfide-containing compositions have been developed. The stable sulfide-containing composition comprises a) a sulfide, a polysulfide or mixtures thereof, of an alkali or an alkaline earth metal, and b) a carrier, such that after maintaining the sulfide-containing composition at a temperature of about 37.degree. to about 50.degree. Celsius for about 2 weeks to one month, the sulfide content remaining in the sulfide-containing composition is about 90% or greater of the initial sulfide content. The sulfide-containing compositions can be used for relieving the pain of ingrown toenail by softening the nail, or as a depilatory for removing human hair or hair from animal hides.
Abstract:
A method for treating onychomycosis without drilling a hole in a nail plate or without daily scraping of the nail, comprising topically administering to the afflicted nail of a mammali) a medicated device comprising salicylic acid or a salt, ester or mixture thereof in a plaster preparation, wherein said plaster preparation is attached to a carrier and the salicylic acid is present in the plaster preparation in an amount ranging from about 10 to about 80 percent (%) by weight of the plaster preparation; orii) a liquid preparation comprising salicylic acid or a salt, ester or mixture thereof in a film-forming liquid vehicle, and the salicylic acid is present in the liquid preparation in an amount ranging from about 6 to about 35% by weight of the liquid preparation.
Abstract:
A low ether gel composition for application to skin comprising a keratolytic agent, in particular salicylic acid, and comprising a nitrocellulose and one or more volatile ingredients, which forms a film on contact with skin adequate to form a protective barrier for the keratolytic agent for a period of time necessary to provide treatment to the skin; methods of treating using such compositions, and dispensers containing such compositions.
Abstract:
A heat-sensitive material is incorporated into a fluid prepolymer precursor of a pressure-sensitive adhesive to form a stable mixture. The mixture is cast onto a substrate, and the prepolymer is polymerized into a pressure-sensitive adhesive by the action of ultraviolet radiation, electron-beam radiation, or a combination thereof.
Abstract:
A method and a medicament for treating onychomycosis. The active ingredient is salicylic acid or a salt, ester or mixture thereof in a medicament, such as a plaster preparation or a liquid preparation, optionally with a retinoid compound such as tretinoin, adapalene, manoalide, retinol, tretinate or mixtures thereof. The method comprises topically administering the active ingredient to the afflicted nail. The medicament is applied without drilling holes in the nail or periodic scraping of the nail and in the absence of an imidazole antimycotic compound.

Abstract:
A plaster preparation comprising a synthetic rubber; a reinforcing agent based on silica or random styrene-butadiene, copolymer; a tackifier; salicylic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
