摘要: Disclosed is an entirely reflective space telescope featuring a segmented primary objective, simulating a refractive Fresnel lens, providing high optical efficiency over a wide spectral range. Each nonfocusing objective segment is all-reflective, having v-shaped mirrored elements for steering a portion of the incident light beam to a secondary focusing module, where an unobstructed wide angle secondary mirror focuses each segment's beam onto a dedicated mirror segment of an optical path corrector. This corrects path length errors, steers and focuses the beams, equally timed and in phase, to an image sensor. A sparsely segmented objective gives larger apertures. For greater apertures, a sparse primary objective and fully tiled secondary relay objective are combined with fully tiled and sparse optical path correctors. A flotilla of fully tiled segmented telescopes can support either amplitude-phase or intensity interferometry. Coronagraphs and starshade occluders can be included to reduce diffraction noise from bright sources.

摘要: A variable focus lens system that can be used in eyeglasses is disclosed. The system consists of superimposed first and second transparent thin lenses with surfaces divided into Fresnel zones and zone boundaries. The lenses are relatively slidable for focus adjustment. The Fresnel zone boundary surfaces are made parallel to the user's optical line of sight to reduce visual obstructions, and the zone boundaries may be restricted to areas near the lens periphery to further reduce visual obstructions. An opaque light absorbing coating may be applied to the zone boundaries to reduce light scattering. A fixed prescription lens, having the user's distance and astigmatism corrections, may be superimposed on the other two lenses.

摘要: The energy efficient wheel product substantially reduces energy loss due to tire flex and energy loss from a conventional automotive drive train. The wheel product includes an axis, a hub, two sidewalls, a low pressure inner chamber with shock absorbing hub protector, an outer ring with at least one high pressure pneumatic chamber with tread, and at least one restraint band radially restraining the outer ring to the hub. The hub can include an electric hub motor which rotates the hub, propelling the vehicle. The restraint band, sidewalls and pressurized chambers enable the wheel to simulate an energy efficient high pressure pneumatic wheel, experiencing little deformation when under smooth road conditions. When road conditions are rough, the band, sidewalls and outer chamber can temporarily buckle in response to the increased road forces, simulating a low pressure conventional tire having ample space for deformation. The low pressure chamber and hub protector provide built in suspension and shock absorption capability. The outer ring chamber can be filled with high pressure closed cell foam to prevent flats.

摘要: A variable focus lens system for eyeglasses is disclosed. The system consists of superimposed first and second thin lenses, simulating Alvarez lenses, with one side of each lens divided into Fresnel zones and zone boundaries. The second lens element is slidable for focus adjustment. The Fresnel zone boundary surfaces are made parallel to the user's optical line of sight to reduce visual obstructions, and the zone boundaries may be restricted to areas near the lens periphery to further reduce visual obstructions. The Fresnel zone boundaries may follow paths which enable equal, constant step size for the boundaries along their lengths. An opaque light absorbing coating may be applied to the zone boundaries to reduce light scattering. A fixed prescription lens, having the user's distance and astigmatism corrections, is superimposed on the first and second lens elements. In a second embodiment, a lens element may have at least one additional Fresnel lens component mated and bonded to it, forming a composite lens element. A composite lens element may have internal antireflection layers between the mated lenses, to further reduce internal reflections. The outer smooth sides of a lens element or composite lens element may have antireflection coating applied.
