    摘要: A self-sealing pneumatic tire having at least one cohesive sandwich radially inward of the pneumatic tire is provided. The at least cohesive sandwich may include a cohesive material under pressure, facilitating a recovery capacity upon being pierced by a sharp object, whereby the molecules of the cohesive material cohesively reattach, self-sealing any passageway or space created by the sharp object. The self-sealing pneumatic tire may also provide a loculated-diamond-section layer located radially inward of the outer cohesive sandwich, further supporting the self-sealing pneumatic tire. The external rubber tread are disposed along the circumference of the tire in some embodiments can be separate from the surface of the tire yet secured in place by attachments. Once fully utilized, this external rubber tread can be replaced by a new version without having to replace the entire tire.

    摘要: An automotive wheel used to substantially reduce energy loss due to tire flex and energy loss from a conventional drive train. The wheel includes a wheel hub, two sidewalls, an inner low pressure pneumatic chamber with hub protector, and an outer tread ring with inner tread wall and semi-rigid outer tread, containing an elastic band. The hub can contain an electric hub motor. The pneumatic chamber and a porous restraint band position the outer tread ring and enable the wheel to simulate an energy efficient high pressure pneumatic when, experiencing little deformation when under smooth road conditions. When road conditions are rough, the sidewalls and the outer tread ring temporarily flex in response to the increased road forces, simulating a low pressure conventional tire having ample space for deformation.

    摘要: A directional pneumatic tire having improved wet traction has two annular aqua channels and curved lateral grooves which direct water from the footprint to the shoulder area of the tire to help prevent hydroplaning. The pitch boundaries between the portions of the tire on either side of the aqua channels may be skewed. The curved lateral grooves and the skewing reduce noise properties of the tire. In addition, the lugs may have rounded or radiused leading and trailing edges, and a leading groove wall angle of about 5.degree. and a trailing groove wall angle of about 1.degree., which are believed to reduce noise and irregular wear. The lugs contain slots which change direction within the lug and tie bars in the slots at each point where the slots change direction. The tread has non-skid depth of 0.75 to 1 cm (0.030 to 0.40 inch) and a ratio of non-skid to tie bar depth of 0.42.

    摘要: A vehicle tire with traction-improving devices, wherein the basic tire has a plurality of uniformly spaced apart cross grooves running essentially from sidewall to sidewall. Each groove is fitted with an inflatable bag or bladder which, when uninflated, retracts within the circle of the road-engaging surface of the tread. An annular manifold is affixed to at least one sidewall and is connected by conduits to the cross members. This manifold has a valved air inlet which may be used to pressurize the cross members via the manifold and thus to project the inflated members radially beyond the circle of the tread so that they engage the road surface. Depressurizing the manifold of course causes the members to retract. Each cross member is equipped with some form of traction-improving substance, structure or the like to enhance road grippability, especially in slippery road conditions. Features include separable coupling of the cross members to the manifold, provision of the cross members and manifold as a separate attachment for certain existing tires, etc.

    摘要: An inner tube assembly for a pneumatic tire is disclosed. The assembly includes a pair of inner tube systems, one of which surrounds the other and intercommunicates therewith via a valve unit that is adapted to allow a pneumatic fluid to flow unidirectionally from the inner one of such tube systems to the outer one of said tube systems and effect an equilibrium of pressure. The valve unit, however, is adapted to close when the outer one of such tube systems is punctured and undergoes a pressure drop relative to the inner one of such tube systems, thereby to pneumatically isolate the interiors of such tube systems from one another.
