摘要:
A test card for drugs of abuse has a thin flat member having the size and shape of a business card. A plurality of immunoassay test strips extend longitudinally from top to bottom at the card and are fastened side by side in parallel on one or both sides of the test card within the outline of the card. Each test strip is reactive to provide a visual indication in response to a particular drug of abuse. The test card thus provides for the simultaneous detection of multiple analytes. Processes are also disclosed for making the drug test card with test strips on one and both sides of the card.

A guaiac reagent-based diagnostic aid for determining the presence of occult blood in an aqueous system contains a micron-sized silica gel into which a guaiac solution has been adsorbed. The guaiac-containing carrier is contacted with a dry, particulate, oxidizing agent, such as a monopersulfate compound, to form a single composition. This composition can be packaged in a water-pervious sandwich. Upon contact with water, the oxidizing agent is activated to produce hydrogen peroxide, which in the presence of occult blood will oxidize the adsorbed guaiac to a brilliant blue reaction product.

A drug of abuse test kit for testing low volumes of a fluid sample having a transparent flat bag container for retaining a fluid sample to be tested and the open end of the container has a recloseable closure. The container is maintained in a substantially vertical position and has an open end which receives a multiple drug test card having a plurality of immunoassay test strips thereon with visual endpoints to indicate presence or absence of a particular drug. A process and a modification thereof for testing of low volumes of a fluid sample and a process for quality control of a test card are also disclosed.
摘要:
A diagnostic test paper detects abuse-type drugs in a test specimen of a biological fluid. A particular method of making the diagnostic test paper includes impregnating a bibulous carrier material with the dry residue of a reagent reactive to abuse-type drugs. A particular method is used for screening a biological fluid to determine the presence of abuse-type drugs therein. A test specimen applying area is located on the bibulous carrier material adjacent one side of a concentrated reagent zone having a first color. A particular method of application and a specific syringe device is used to apply a test specimen that has been prepared under very precise conditions. The test specimen moves from the particular applying area into the concentrated reagent zone to produce the specific results of detecting the presence of abuse-type drugs therein. A novel solvent composition is used to prepare the test specimen applied to the bibulous carrier material of the invention.

A test for the presence of occult blood in fecal matter or other bodily substance employs an indicator wipe 2. The indicator wipe 2 has an occult-blood detection-test surface 10 for collecting a specimen and includes a peroxidase-activity indicator reagent dispersed on or located proximate to the specimen collection region. The test involves contacting the specimen-collection region to the bodily substance to obtain a specimen, then applying an oxidizing-agent developing fluid to the specimen and observing any color change to determine if the specimen contains occult blood, and finally disposing of the indicator wipe by placing it in a toilet bowl and flushing it away.
摘要:
A specimen-collection wipe 2 is suitable for use in testing for the presence of occult blood in fecal matter or other bodily substance. The wipe 2 includes a substrate 4 having a hand-contact surface 11 for manipulating the wipe 2 and an occult-blood detection-test surface 10 for collecting a specimen and supporting it during treatment with an occult-blood indicator fluid. The substrate 4 has a sufficiently low wet strength to permit the wipe 2 to be disposed of in a toilet and preferably has a sufficiently high resistance to seepage to permit the hand-contact surface 11 to remain dry for the duration of the test. The wipe 2 also includes an indicator-activity verification region 14 on which is dispersed a reagent capable of interacting with the occult-blood indicator fluid to provide an indication characteristic of the presence of occult blood.
