    摘要: A hydrocarbon-derived, tack enhancing, diolefin/olefin backboned resin prepared by reacting, in the presence of an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent and a selected catalyst, a monomer mixture comprised primarily of a diolefin/olefin mixture, of the piperylene/olefin type, and about 2 to about 12 weight percent .alpha.-methyl styrene.The resin has a particular application for use as a tackifier with styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymers.

    摘要: There is disclosed a hydrocarbon derived resin having a structure characterized by a softening point in the range of about 0.degree. C. to about 45.degree. C. and comprising from about 40 to about 80 weight percent units derived from piperylene and correspondingly from about 60 to about 20 weight percent units derived from 2-methyl-2-butene prepared by the method which comprises polymerizng a mixture comprising from about 20 to about 75 weight percent piperylene and correspondingly from about 80 to about 25 weight percent 2-methyl-2-butene in the presence of a catalyst selected from antimony pentafluoride and ferric chloride. The resin has particular utility when combined with rubber as a tackifier to form pressure sensitive adhesives.

    摘要: Age resistant resin which comprises a composition selected from (A) a composition having a softening point in the range of 0.degree. C to about 140.degree. C comprising units derived from selected aliphatic diolefins and aliphatic monoolefins, which can be modified with units derived from dicyclopentadiene, and certain vinyl aromatic compounds, and selected phenol or amine type compounds and (B) a composition having a softening point in the range of about 60.degree. C to about 110.degree. C comprising units derived from monoolefins and vinyl aromatic compounds, which can be modified with aliphatic diolefins, and selected phenol and amine type compounds. Such age resistant resins have particular utility when admixed with various rubbery materials and thermoplastics to create pressure sensitive adhesives and hot melt adhesives.

    摘要: A resinous material, suitable for use in hot melt adhesives, having a softening point in the range of about 60.degree. C to about 110.degree. C prepared by polymerizing a monomer mixture selected from specific amounts of styrene, isobutylene and 1,3-butadiene, where the mole ratio of isobutylene to butadiene is in the range of about 0.5/1 to about 3/1. The resinous material itself is prepared by polymerizing the selected monomers and their required amounts in the presence of a catalyst selected from aluminum chloride and ethylaluminum dichloride and in the presence of a hydrocarbon solvent containing dissolved water.

    摘要: This invention relates to a thixotropic thickening agent and to a process for preparing the same. Such thixotropic thickening agents are particularly useful for thickening water reducible coatings. The thixotropic thickening agents of this invention are copolymers which are comprised of repeat units which are derived from methacrylic acid monomer, ethylacrylate monomer, and a water soluble crosslinking agent. The water soluble crosslinking agents which can be used include ethylene glycol dimethacrylate and alkylene bisacrylamides, such as N,N'-methylene bisacrylamide. A neutralized two weight percent aqueous solution of the thixotropic thickening agents of this invention will have a Brookfield RVT viscosity as measured at 50 rpm using a number 3 spindle within the range of 50 to 2000 centipoise (cps).
