摘要： A time limit for a printer to be restored to a printable state after an occurrence of a print error that prevents the printer from printing is variably set. If the printer is not in a printable state when an elapsed time since the print error occurred in the printer reaches the time limit being set or exceeds the time limit, a print start command is transmitted to another printer, and a job assignment is switched to the other printer.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of sheet feed trays, a tray information management unit, a sheet feed control unit, and an image forming unit. The sheet feed trays contain recording sheets. The tray information management unit manages tray information in which tray identification information on the sheet feed trays is associated with sheet type information on sheet types of recording sheets contained in the sheet feed trays. The sheet feed control unit selects, from among the sheet feed trays, one sheet feed tray containing a recording sheet of one sheet type designated in an image forming request by referring to the tray information, and controls a sheet feeding operation for feeding the recording sheet from the selected tray. The image forming unit forms an image on the recording sheet fed from the selected tray according to image forming data input with the image forming request.

The cover sheet includes a front cover area, a back cover area, and a spine area located between the front cover area and the back cover area. The information acquisition unit acquires information on a width of the spine area in the cover sheet prior to binding the sheet stack. The area designation unit designates an image formation area in which an image is to be formed in the cover sheet based on the information on the width of the spine area acquired by the information acquisition unit. The image formation area includes the spine area. The image forming unit forms the image in the image formation area designated by the area designation unit.

摘要： An optical information read/write apparatus that comprises a casing for installing an optical disk therein and a first movable unit having an objective lens for converging an optical beam on the disk. The lens center moves on a radial direction line originated from the disk center. A first fixed unit is disposed aside the disk in the casing. The fixed unit has an optical source for emitting the beam and constitutes a reading optical pickup in conjunction with the first movable unit. A second movable unit is disposed in the same half side of the disk as the first movable unit. The second movable unit has an objective lens for converging an optical beam on the disk. The lens center of the second unit moves on a radial direction line originated from the disk center. A second fixed unit is disposed aside the disk. The second fixed unit has an optical source for emitting the beam of the second movable unit and constitutes a writing optical pickup in conjunction with the second movable unit.
