In a display apparatus utilizing a cathode ray tube, the tube is provided with a dot matrix electrode and the apparatus is provided with a plurality of memories for different types of patterns and connected with the matrix electrode, an address register for storing the positions on the screen at which selected patterns are to be displayed, a memory for storing the information regarding the patterns to be displayed, means responsive to the outputs from the address register and the memory for selectively driving the plurality of memories and means for supplying deflection current to the deflection coil of the cathode ray tube in synchronism with the outputs from the plurality of memories.

In a fluorescent display device utilizing a fluorescent display tube containing a plurality of fluorescent segment electrodes, a control electrode and a heater electrode, there are provided a source with its negative pole connected to one terminal of the heater electrode, a decoder with its output connected to the segment electrodes and a pattern selection switch connected between the input terminals of the decoder and the positive pole of the source. At least one diode is connected between one of the segment electrodes and the other terminal of the heater electrode and the control electrode.

In a flat fluorescent letter display tube of the type wherein a plurality of letter display units are disposed in an sealed envelope including a transparent upper half and a lower half which are joined together in an air tight fashion, there are provided an insulative substrate and a plurality of segment electrodes printed on the substrate and constituting the plurality of letter display units. The upper half is joined hermetically to the substrate to complete the sealed envelope.

A digital display body-weight meter includes a positioning means to bring a code disc having a logic code arrangement to standstill at the termination of its rotation according to the descent of a footstool such that a detecting means to detect a logic code is located at the center of one of a plurality of logic codes, whereby reliable measurement signal may be obtained from the detecting means. It also includes means to bring the detecting means into contact with the logic code arrangement on the code disc after the termination of the rotation of the disc, whereby wear of brush and conductor can be eliminated and also good contact therebetween and reliable read-out of signal may be ensured.

A cathode ray tube for displaying characters and the like is provided with a character forming means comprising a character substrate provided with a plurality of character pattern perforations arranged in the form of characters, a plurality of parallel X-axis electrode elements each having a plurality of perforations and a plurality of parallel Y-axis electrode elements each having a plurality of perforations and these X- and Y-axis electrode elements are arranged in a matrix so that a desired character pattern region is determined by selecting the matrix coordinates of the electrode elements to shape the electron beam passing through the region by the character perforations of the character substrate.
