The controller of the present invention includes an address management table that stores address information of valid data among the data stored in a flash memory, a status flag stored in the flash memory indicating that the data before rewriting and the data after rewriting are in process of rewriting, and a data rewriting process unit (the data management means) that changes the address information of the valid data from the data before rewriting to the data after rewriting at a given timing. It is thus possible to specify an area in process of rewriting even if the power supply is stopped in process of rewriting. It is also possible to judge the valid data when the process is restarted from the power off and erase the unnecessary data.

A buried type measuring instrument has a sensing unit 10A which is formed in part of a case 10 and senses a physical value pertaining to a change of state of a structure. This case 10 accommodates a transducer 11 for converting the physical value sensed by the sensing unit 10A; a transmission circuit unit 12 for outputting a carrier signal modulated by an output of the transducer 11; a drive unit 13 for driving the transducer 11 and the transmission circuit unit 12 with power supply from a battery 15; and a transmission coil 14 for receiving an output of the transmission circuit unit 12 and generating a low frequency magnetic field signal. This case 10 is buried in the structure. Consequently, it is possible to provide a measuring instrument which can adopt a radio communication mode to secure a sufficient cutoff function of the structure and avoid damage to the measuring sensor, allows remote data acquisition, and even has no adverse effect on strength characteristics of the structure.

An apparatus for measuring a characteristic of an object, the apparatus includes: a light projector which projects light to an object; a photosensor which senses light which has been projected by the light projector and reflected from the object; a calculator which calculates a characteristic of the object based on an output of the photosensor; an angle detector which detects respective angles of the light projector and the photosensor with respect to the object; an adjustment mechanism which adjusts the respective angles of the light projector and the photosensor; and a controller which controls the adjustment mechanism based on a detection result of the angle detector so that the light projector and the photosensor come into their respective desired angles.

An internal pressure adjusting mechanism for equalizing the internal and external pressures of a waterproof product, such as an underwater camera, when the internal pressure of the product varies due to a change in temperature or atmospheric pressure. The internal pressure adjusting mechanism includes an air circulation passage in the product for establishing communication between the interior of the product and an external atmosphere, and a water-repellent porous member in the passage to permit air to freely circulate through the passage while preventing water from passing therethrough.

An improved air conditioner for supplying temperature-controlled air to the interior of a room from a ceiling position where the air conditioner is installed without danger of condensate dripping from the air conditioner into the room. Air is sucked from an outer case intake vent into a heat exchanger and the cooled air is blown into the room with blowers. The heat exchanger and the blowers are installed in a suspended outer case in a space above the ceiling of the room. The air sucked from the intake vent is led to air supply vents provided on both sides of the undersurface of the outer case through the air supply trunk, the air supply trunk being divided into sections by a bulkhead.

An infrared image pick-up apparatus includes: the lens, the sensor, a display device for simultaneously displaying both the intensity of the ray as a two-dimensional image in accordance with a signal processed by the circuit and an offset level, which is served as reference intensity of an infrared ray in displaying the image in accordance with the signal from the circuit; and a control device for changing the offset level and change speed thereof. An infrared image pick-up apparatus includes: a detecting device for detecting an internal temperature of an inside of the apparatus; an internal temperature operation device for performing an operation on an internal temperature datra on the basis of a signal outputted from the detecting device; an outputting device for outputting data of power consumption of the apparatus; and a peripheral temperature operation device for performing estimation and an operation of a peripheral temperature on the basis of the data of the internal temperature and the consumption.
