Abstract: A display device includes: an interlayer insulating layer on a substrate; an organic EL array; a metal layer connected to the organic EL array; a covering member disposed outward of the organic EL array and inward of a peripheral region of the interlayer insulating layer; a lower inorganic sealing layer provided continuously on the organic EL array, metal layer, and covering member up to the peripheral region of the interlayer insulating layer; a resin sealing layer covering at least part of the lower inorganic sealing layer; and an upper inorganic sealing layer provided continuously on the resin sealing layer up to the peripheral region of the interlayer insulating layer. At least part of a peripheral portion of the metal layer has a tapered cross-sectional shape convex in a direction opposite to a direction toward one principal surface of the substrate, and the peripheral portion is covered by the covering member.

Abstract: A self-luminous display panel 10 in which self-luminous elements 2 are arranged on a plane, wherein each of the self-luminous elements includes: a pair of electrodes 13, 20 disposed facing each other, an electrode of the pair of electrodes including a metal layer 20A; functional layers 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 including a light emitting layer 17, disposed between the pair of electrodes; and a sealing layer 21 that covers the pair of electrodes and the functional layers from a direction. The self-luminous elements include a repaired self-luminous element 2′. The repaired self-luminous element includes a foreign object FO among the functional layers. The electrode including the metal layer has a high resistance portion 201 surrounding, in plan view, an area containing the foreign object, and has a thickened portion 202 of the metal layer at an outer edge, in plan view, of the high resistance portion.

Abstract: A patterning device performs patterning in manufacture of a display panel in which thin films including an organic film are laminated above a substrate. The patterning device includes a chamber, light transmissive plates, and a laser emitter. The chamber has a light transmissive window including a first light transmissive plate through which a laser beam is transmitted and accommodates a thin film laminated substrate. A second light transmissive plate through which the laser beam is transmitted is in the chamber between the first light transmissive plate and the thin film laminated substrate at a position spaced away from the thin film laminated substrate. The laser emitter is outside the chamber and emits the laser beam towards the thin film laminated substrate, through the first light transmissive plate and the second light transmissive plate, to irradiate and remove a portion of the thin film.

Abstract: A display device driving method of driving a display device that includes a display panel including plural pixels, the display device driving method including: calculating, for each of the plural pixels, cumulative stress that is an accumulation of stress corresponding to an output luminance of the pixel; selecting, based on a selection signal input to the display device, one correlation data item from among a plurality of correlation data items each corresponding to a different one of the plural pixels and indicating a relationship between the cumulative stress and an efficiency residual ratio that indicates a degradation degree of the pixel; determining the efficiency residual ratio, based on the one correlation data item and the cumulative stress; and correcting, for each of the plural pixels, a luminance signal corresponding to the pixel, based on the efficiency residual ratio that corresponds to the pixel and is determined in the determining.
