A pneumatic system for transporting a carrier includes a first transport tube coupled to a first transport station and a second transport tube coupled to a second transport station. A distributor coupled to the first transport tube and the second transport tube includes a carousel having at least one storage chamber. The carousel is rotatable about an axis to align the storage chamber with the first transport tube and the second transport tube. A source of airflow coupled to the distributor facilitates movement of the carrier through the first transport tube and into the storage chamber of the carousel, and facilitates movement of the carrier from the storage chamber of the carousel into the second transport tube. An associated method for transporting the carrier includes the step of moving the carrier from the first transport tube in a first direction into the storage chamber of the distributor. The distributor is then rotated with a carrier in the storage chamber, and the carrier is moved from the storage chamber in a second direction opposite to the first direction and into the second transport tube.

An exterior port of the sleeve directly and fluidly interconnects with the interior of said inflatable portion, wherein a slotted portion is aligned with the port to receive the port when the cuff is wrapped about the limb of a patient. The slotted portion is sized to provide a range of cuff sizes wherein the cuff can be entirely made from a biodegradable or recyclable material. The invention includes methods and apparatus for measuring (Intraocular Pressure) IOP and (Corneal Thickness) CT for diagnosis and for monitoring a condition of health of an eye. The apparatus uses measurements selected from at least one of IOP and a CT, and a plurality of IOP measurements to deduce an interpretive result indicative of a condition of an eye. In another embodiment, the apparatus measures a relationship between an applanated area of variable size and a selected one of an applied force and an applied pressure. The relationship is used to deduce an interpretive result indicative of the condition of an eye. The result can be displayed to a practitioner. The practitioner uses the result to determine a course of treatment as necessary, and to monitor the effect of a course of treatment on the state of health of the eye over time.

A sheath or cover for a laparoscope insertion tube comprises a generally rigid cylindrical wall with a face plate disposed at its distal tip. A grip mechanism at the proximal end of the rigid cylindrical wall is twisted to grip the insertion tube when the sheath is slipped onto it. An elongated tubular drape is formed of a flexible membrane, such as polyethylene film, which is folded back and forth axially on the sheath. A distal end of the drape is attached to the grip mechanism, and a proximal end is bonded to a rigid or semi-rigid tubular oversleeve. The drape is extended proximally for surgery to cover the handle and umbilical of the laparoscope. After the surgical procedure the drape is extended distally. This uncovers the umbilical and handle as well as the grip mechanism, and covers the rigid cylindrical wall of the sheath. This also inverts the drape so that all contaminated surfaces are facing inward.
