摘要: The channel region of the FET device has a first portion adjacent the source which has a higher bandgap energy or a higher electron affinity than a remaining portion of the channel. A quasi-electric field in the channel near the source is intensified and as a result, accelerates charge carriers in the channel and increases switching speed. An infrared controlled FET device is also disclosed in which a low bandgap channel layer has a large bandgap layer deposited on it to result in a conduction band discontinuity at the junction between the large bandgap semiconductor layer and the low bandgap channel layer and a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) channel in the low bandgap channel layer so that photons reaching the 2DEG eject charges and allow conduction through the channel layer.

摘要: The present disclosure describes an optical waveguide device and a method for making such device. The device comprises a substrate; a waveguide embedded in the substrate, the waveguide having a refractive index higher than the refractive index of the substrate; and first and second optical mirrors placed respectively in two different positions along the waveguide. The method comprises steps of (a) cleaning a substrate by means of a cleaning agent; (b) embedding a waveguide in the substrate; and (c) placing first and second optical mirrors respectively at two different positions in the substrate, the steps (b) and (c) being performed in such a manner that the mirrors being positioned along the waveguide.

摘要: Transdermal sampling and analysis device, method and system are provided for non-invasively and transdermally obtaining biological samples from a subject and determining levels of analytes of the obtained biological samples. The transdermal sampling and analysis device, method and system may cause disruption to the skin cells to create capillary-like channels from which biological samples may flow to the transdermal sampling and analysis device. The transdermal sampling and analysis device, method and system may collect the biological samples in a reservoir and transport the biological samples to a sensing chamber. The sensing chamber may contain at least two sensing electrodes coated with a biologically reactive element which reacts with the transported biological sample. The sensing chamber may be configured to mitigate the formation of air bubbles which may impede the transport and distribution of the biological sample across the entirety of the sensing chamber.

The transdermal sampling and analysis device, method and system may cause disruption to the skin cells to create capillary-like channels from which biological samples may flow to the transdermal sampling and analysis device. The transdermal sampling and analysis device, method and system may collect the biological samples in a reservoir where the biological sample may chemically react with a biologically reactive element. A sensor may convert the produced electrons (ions) into measured electrical signals. The converted signals may be measured and the levels of an analyte may be determined based on the measured signals.

摘要: Characters are located in a character recognition system by providing images in response to scanning characters, and then smearing black pixels in an image in up and down and left and right directions for detecting corners which are used to produce candidate character frames. These candidate character frames are scored based on how well they correspond to character size and expected location to determine which character frames are to be submitted for character recognition.
