摘要: Systems and methods of monitoring a subject's neurological condition are provided. In some embodiments, the method includes the steps of analyzing a physiological signal (such as an EEG) from a subject to determine if the subject is in a contra-ictal condition; and if the subject is in a contra-ictal condition, providing an indication (e.g., to the subject and/or to a caregiver) that the subject is in the contra-ictal condition. The systems and methods may utilize a minimally invasive, leadless device to monitor the subject's condition. In some embodiments, if the subject is in a pro-ictal condition, the method includes the step of providing an indication (such as a red light) that the subject is in the pro-ictal condition.

摘要: A patient advisory device (“PAD”) and its methods of use. The PAD may be configured to alert the patient about an estimated brain state of the patient. In preferred embodiments, the PAD is adapted to alert the patient of the patient's brain state, which corresponds to the patient's propensity of transitioning into an ictal brain state, e.g., having a seizure. Based on the specific type of alert, the patient will be made aware whether they are highly unlikely to have a seizure for a given period of time, an elevated propensity of having a seizure, a seizure is occurring or imminent, or the patient's brain state is unknown.

摘要: This invention relates to medical electrode systems and, in particular, to a defibrillator electrode system for use with an automatic or semi-automatic external defibrillator (AED). This invention provides a medical electrode system with two electrodes. Each electrode has a flexible substrate with an adhesive surface; a conductor disposed on the substrate; and an electrode disposed on the substrate and electrically connected to the conductor. The electrode pads are each imprinted to show the proper placement of the electrode. Additionally, the medical electrode system may have the electrode pads adhered to a single removable releasing surface. The removable releasing surface may have a fold-line along a center axis between the two electrode pads, or alternatively may have perforations along the center axis. Ideally, the imprinting on each electrode pad can be interpreted by an AED operator without reviewing the imprinting of the other electrode pad.

摘要: A code reading system is disclosed utilizing a novel, multicolored, densely packed code read by a scanner which is placed over the code and held in place while the scanner performs its reading function. The scanner includes lighting means which are sequentially flashed on the code, as well as optical means to pick up an image received from the code during each sequential flash. The optical means directs the received image onto an imager where it is recorded. After a predetermined sequence, the received images recorded on the imager are fed to a microprocessor for storage and manipulation.

摘要: A wedge-shaped whipstock is provided for directional well drilling which tapers from the lead end to a thick section at the bottom, and is fabricated from a tough polymeric material. An adhesive coating is applied to the outside surface of the wedge for permanent adherence of the whipstock to the surface of the drill hole. A deformable highly viscous material can fill and complement the internal wedge portion to produce a cylindrical configuration prior to use. Alternatively, or in conjunction with the deformable viscous material, a compressive element having a shaped compression face and made from a frangible material may be formed on the drill bit and/or attached to the prepared whipstock for the lowering of the tool into the drill hole and bonding the whipstock in place. The bottom surface of the whipstock is reinforced for positioning in the hole over a bridge plug or broken drill pipe. The weight of the drill bit and stem applied to the compressive element deforms the viscous filler material and laterally sets the whipstock in the hole. Rotation of the drill bit destroys the compressive element; and the drill, following the face of the wedge, drills an offset hole at an angle to the original. Various attachments, arrangements, and materials are provided for the whipstock wedge, filler portion and compressive element.
