    摘要: An encoded representation (60) of a picture (10) of a video stream (1) is decoded by retrieving buffer description information defining at least one reference picture (40, 42). The buffer description information is used to determine a picture identifier of a reference picture (40, 42), which is compared to picture identifiers of reference pictures (40, 42) stored in a decoded picture buffer (230, 350). If the reference picture (40, 42) is determined to be missing based on the comparison of picture identifiers the layer identifier of the reference picture (40, 42) obtained based on the buffer description information is compared to a layer identifier of the current picture (10) in order to determine whether the missing reference picture (40, 42) has been intentionally removed or is unintentionally lost.

That is achieved by taking into account whether the reference pictures in the decoded picture buffer are long-term reference pictures or short-term reference pictures when determining how they should be marked when the information of the reference picture set is received.     摘要: In video encoding and decoding predictions may be generated by intra-frame prediction. Intra-frame prediction uses reconstructed pixels in a reconstructed frame. Intra-frame prediction is performed by extending the reconstructed pixels into a predicted block using intra-frame prediction modes, each intra-frame prediction mode indicating a direction of the extension. In order to reduce the number of possible intra-frame prediction modes, a subset is selected from a predetermined set of possible intra-frame prediction modes. A subset of intra-frame prediction modes can be created by forming preselection sets of intra-frame prediction modes on the basis of similarity of their associated predicted blocks and selecting a representative intra-frame prediction mode from each preselection set.

    摘要: A method of encoding a video sequence comprising Reference Picture Sets (RPSs) is provided. The method comprises arranging the RPSs in transmission order in a data structure, such as a Sequence Parameter Set (SPS), determining whether explicit RPS transmission is used for an RPS of a current picture of the video sequence, and encoding information indicating an RPS comprised in the data structure to be used for predicting the RPS of the current picture, such as delta_idx_minus1, only if explicit RPS transmission is used. By transmitting delta_idx_minus1 only if explicit RPS transmission is used, and interpreting delta_idx_minus1 to be equal to zero otherwise, a reduced bitrate is achieved. Further, a method of decoding a video sequence comprising RPSs, corresponding computer programs and computer program products, as well as corresponding encoders and decoders are provided.
