Abstract:
To provide a reception and playback device capable of playing back a program in viewer's desired display mode. The reception and playback device receives, with respect to a program that is currently played back in a first display mode, a switching instruction to switch from the first display mode to a second display mode, receives switching permission information indicating whether switching of a playback target stream of the program is permissible from a first stream to a second stream respectively corresponding to the first display mode and the second display mode, when receiving the switching instruction, judges whether switching of the display mode is permissible from the first display mode to the second display mode based on the switching permission information, when judging affirmatively, switches from the first stream to the second stream to perform playback using the second stream, and when judging negatively, performs playback using the first stream.
Abstract:
A playback device for playing back a playlist by determining, as a current sub-playitem, a sub-playitem that is optimum for the current sub-playitem each time a current playitem changes. The playback device continues a playback of a playitem when a clip file being referred to by the current sub-playitem has been downloaded and is in an Enable state in the local storage; and stops, by issuing a DataStarved event, the playback of the playitem when the clip file being referred to by the current sub-playitem is in a missing state or an invalid state in a recording medium.
Abstract:
To provide a transmission device that enables playback with respect to the same program in accordance with a viewer's viewing environment. The transmission device stores therein 3D access information and 2D access information respectively relating to access to a 3D stream and a 2D stream that are simulcast, and generates and transmits a data stream including the 3D access information and the 2D access information.
Abstract:
AVClip recorded in BD-ROM is obtained by multiplexing a graphics stream and a video stream. The graphics stream is a PES packet sequence that includes 1) PES packets storing graphics data (ODS) and 2) PES packets storing control information (PCS). In each ODS, values of DTS and PTS indicate a timing of decoding start for corresponding graphics data, and a timing of decoding end for corresponding graphics data, respectively. In each PCS, a value of PTS indicates a display timing of corresponding decoded graphics data combined with the video stream.

Abstract:
A recording medium has a main-view stream, a sub-view stream, and an extended stream recorded thereon. The main-view stream contains a main-view video stream constituting main views of stereoscopic video images, and is divided into a plurality of main-view extents arranged on the recording medium. The sub-view stream contains a sub-view video stream constituting sub-views of the stereoscopic video images, and is divided into a plurality of sub-view extents arranged on the recording medium. The extended stream contains extended data to be used in combination with the main-view stream, and is divided into a plurality of extended extents arranged on the recording medium. Between an adjacent pair of the plurality of extended extents, at least two each of the plurality of the main-view extents and the plurality of the sub-view extents are placed in a continuous, interleaved arrangement.
Abstract:
A state setting unit stores a parameter indicating the state of a display device. A packet analyzing unit refers to the parameter to receive a broadcast stream, and analyzes management packets contained in the broadcast stream. A decoding unit uses a result of the analyzing to extract packets constituting broadcast content from the broadcast stream and decode the packets into video frames. A display unit displays video images represented by the video frames. A 3D video image detecting unit uses a result of the analyzing to determine whether broadcast content to be displayed contains 3D video images or not. A transmitter unit transmits a notification signal to a pair of 3D glasses when the 3D video image detecting unit detects that the broadcast content contains 3D video images. A notifying unit operates to urge the viewer to use the pair of 3D glasses in response to the notification signal.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a playback apparatus for playing back one combination video by combining a broadcast video with any additional video not determined by a fixed position relative to the broadcast video. The playback apparatus comprises: a first receiving unit that receives, via a broadcast wave, a broadcast video composed of broadcast images, each broadcast image being a portion of a frame image among a plurality of frame images constituting the original video; a second receiving unit that receives an additional video composed of remaining images, each remaining image being the remaining portion of the frame image; an arrangement information acquiring unit that acquires arrangement information indicating an arrangement of the broadcast image and the remaining image in the frame image; and a playback unit that reproduces and plays back the frame images by arranging the broadcast images and the remaining images based on the arrangement information.
