In an electrically driven vehicle equipped with a battery usable for running, a power generation unit of engine driven type that charges the battery is detachably mounted on the vehicle including a case where at least an engine of the power generation unit is detachably mounted, and the vehicle includes first stop means for bringing the power generation unit in a stopped state when the power generation unit is installed in or removed from the vehicle, and a generation stop switch for making an operation request to the power generation unit. More specifically, the first stop means stops an operation request signal to the power generation unit through low-voltage system wires when the generation stop switch is ON (no operation request is made).

An electrically driven vehicle equipped with a battery usable for running in which a power generation unit of engine driven type that charges the battery is detachably mounted on a vehicle body, includes including a first connection part that brings a high-voltage system in which the battery and the power generation unit are electrically connected together into a connected state in a state in which the power generation unit is mounted in a mounting position and brings the high-voltage system into a disconnected state in a state in which the power generation unit is dismounted from the mounting position, whereby the first connection part switches a connection state of the high-voltage system in accordance with installation or removal of the power generation unit. The first connection part includes a connector on the vehicle side and a connector on the power generation unit side.

Disclosed is a photoelectric tilt-detecting sensor which, while simple in structure, is reduced of traveling-around of light transmitted therein to thereby improve the signal-to-noise ratio. The tilt-detecting sensor has a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element respectively fixed in an opposed relation in a main body, and slant surfaces provided between the light-emitting element and the light-receiving element to define a space in the main body. The slant surfaces has an elongate groove so that a spherical ball is allowed to stably move therealong. A lid integral with the main body enables bending thereof to enclose the space of the main body. These lid and the main body is formable in one body by using dies through simplified processes, realizing large-scaled production.

A Point of Sale (POS) system includes a portable terminal for a customer and an adjustment POS terminal connected to the portable terminal in a retail store. The portable terminal includes an input unit for inputting article codes corresponding to goods selected by a customer and a local price look-up (PLU) file for storing main article codes. A retrieval unit retrieves the article information from the local PLU file in accordance with the article code input through the input unit, and a calculation unit performs calculation processes in accordance with the result of retrieval by the retrieval unit. A display unit then displays the article information and a result of calculation by the calculation unit. A storage unit stores the article information and a result of calculation by the calculation unit. A communication unit sends the article information which is temporarily stored in the storage unit to the adjustment POS terminal. The adjustment terminal includes a communication unit for receiving the article information which is sent from the portable terminal, and a calculation unit for performing adjustment processes in accordance with the article information received.

A POS (Point Of Sales) system which employs a purchased commodity accommodating and transporting apparatus having a self scanning function is improved in that a total amount of money for commodities loaded on a shopping cart or in a shopping basket or unit prices of the individual commodities can come to a knowledge of a customer before the commodities are transported to a settlement POS terminal thereby to prevent possible shopping of an amount of money greater than an estimate to allow smooth shopping and that commodities are printed in a sorted condition for different groups to facilitate confirmation of purchased commodities by a customer. A display section is provided on the purchased commodity accommodating and transporting apparatus and displays the prices of commodities obtained by retrieval of a commodity price file in accordance with commodity code information read by a commodity code reading section and a total value of the prices of the commodities.

A variable compression ratio mechanism of an internal combustion engine includes an operation element, an input actuator, and a reverse input torque cutoff clutch. The reverse input torque cutoff clutch includes a fixed member, a movable member, clearance, a wedge member, and a moving device. A peripheral surface of the fixed member is formed such that the clearance is formed with: a rotation prevention area that prevents the movable member from rotating in a reverse input torque acting direction. When the movable member moves in the direction to change a mechanical compression ratio, the moving device moves the wedge member from the rotation prevention area to the rotation allowable area in an opposite direction and holds the wedge member in the rotation allowable area.

The lubricant-return holes are provided in the intermediate portion of the ring gear. Thus, the lubricant stagnating above the first oil sealing member can be easily discharged to the oil pan side via the lubricant-return holes even when the ring gear has stopped rotating in response to the starter motor being turned off after completion of the start of the internal combustion engine. As such, the level of the surface of lubricant stagnating between the ring gear and the outer race member does not rise, and therefore the lubricant surface virtually does not reach the outer race and the one-way clutch that are rotating while the internal combustion engine is running. Thus, bubbling of lubricant and production of sludge, which may otherwise be caused by agitation of the lubricant surface, can be prevented.

An outer race support plate to which torque of a pinion gear is transmitted from a ring gear via a one-way clutch and thus rotates a crankshaft is provided separately from a flywheel and is mounted to the crankshaft not via the flywheel. As a result, impact noise produced when the one-way clutch engages is not directly transmitted to the flywheel. Accordingly, noise radiation from the flywheel can be suppressed, thereby enabling noise to be reduced.

A one-way clutch and a bearing are both grease-filled so even if an oil seal member prevents engine oil from flowing thereto, it will cause no problems in terms of lubrication of the one-way clutch and the bearing. Therefore, the oil seal member 18 need only seal between a main body side of an internal combustion engine and a crankshaft and so does not need to have a large diameter. As a result, even when the crankshaft rotates while the internal combustion engine is operating, the small diameter oil seal member will not slide at a high rate of speed against an outer peripheral surface of the crankshaft and so will not degrade quickly.

Engine starting apparatus comprising a one way clutch. A first oil seal is located on the outer side of a second oil seal in the radial direction of a ring gear. Upon starting of an engine, the time that the first oil seal is slid on the ring gear is short, and after the start of the engine, the first oil seal is not slid on the ring gear. The second oil seal is located on the inner side of the first oil seal in the radial direction of the ring gear. Therefore, the second oil seal hardly deteriorates even if slid on a flywheel at high speed after the start of the engine. By locating the first and second oil seals at different positions in the radial direction of the ring gear, it is possible to improve the startability and the lifetime of a starting apparatus. At least one oil seal has a taper shape in order to generate a thrust force which forces the ring gear away from the flywheel.
