摘要: Embodiments relate to an off-road vehicle comprising a frame, including at least one cargo box support member, a suspension movably coupled to the frame, a passenger compartment, an engine, a transmission operatively coupled to the engine, and a cargo box. The cargo box includes a floor and a plurality of upwardly extending sidewalls, wherein at least a portion of the cargo box floor extends over the at least one cargo box support member and wherein the cargo box is removably coupled to the at least one cargo box support members and is removable from the off-road vehicle via the removal of fewer than eight fasteners.

Replacement of the conventional engine and transmission by the frame-mounted unit can be fast. The frame can be attached at the middle section using shear bolts to avoid impeding a crumple of the chassis during a front impact.

摘要: In an engine housing and transmission housing adapted to be moved axially together, an easily actuatable and releasable attachment means for joining the housings coaxially together so as to prevent relative rotation and axial separation. Retention grooves cut through interfitting non-rotation splines on the housings provide oppositely facing limit surfaces, with one retention groove also providing a pocket for an expandable and contractable retention ring. In a stored position, the ring is located outside of the root of the splines, so that the housings may be pushed together without resistance, which also serves to align the retention grooves. The ring is then contracted by a single turnable fastener, moving it out of the pocket and between the oppositely facing limit surfaces to prevent axial separation of the housings.

摘要: In a tractor having front and rear pairs of wheels and an engine mounted over one of said pairs of wheels, the engine, said one pair of wheels, and implement hitch fittings comprise one module. The rest of the vehicle, including an operator's seat and steering wheel, comprises another module, connected with the first module by resilient vibration absorbing elements. In the first module the engine is rigidly mounted on a subframe to which the resilient elements are connected. The subframe and an axle for said pair of wheels can tilt relative to one another about a fore-and-aft extending axis, but such tilting is frictionally retarded to dampen vibratory engine movements about said axis.
