Abstract: A ventilator includes a compressor, a storage vessel, a valve assembly communicating with the compressor, the storage vessel, and an inhalation line. A controller directs the valve assembly between a storage configuration where ventilation gas is delivered from the compressor into the storage vessel, and a delivery configuration where ventilation gas is delivered from the storage vessel to the inhalation line. The controller is coupled to a pressure sensor for detecting a first pressure within the storage vessel when the valve assembly is directed to the delivery configuration, and detecting subsequent pressure while ventilation gas is delivered from the storage vessel to the inhalation line, the controller determining the volume of ventilation gas delivered to the patient based at least in part on the difference between the first pressure and the subsequent pressure.

Abstract: A fabricated vehicle axle is shown to include a main body having an inverted U-shaped configuration. The fabricated vehicle axle further includes a continuous bottom plate welded to the main body. The fabricated axle also includes a first king pin top plate having a reversed curved fork portion welded to the main body at one end thereof. Similarly, the fabricated vehicle axle includes a second king pin top plate having a reversed curved fork portion welded to the main body at an opposite end thereof. Still further, the fabricated vehicle axle includes a first gooseneck part welded to the first king pin top plate and the first end of the bottom plate. Similarly, the fabricated vehicle axle includes a second gooseneck part welded to the second king pin top plate and the second end of the bottom plate.REEXAMINATION RESULTSThe questions raised in reexamination request 90/007,703, filed Sep. 1, 2005 have been considered and the results thereof are reflected in this reissue patent which constitutes the reexamination certificate required by 35 U.S.C. 307 as provided in 37 CFR 1.570(e), for ex parte reexaminations, or the reexamination certificate required by 35 U.S.C. 316 as provided in 37 CFR 1.99(e) for inter partes reexaminations.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system for selectably directing power signals to coils of active field pole members in brushless electrodynamic machinery are disclosed. In one embodiment, a field pole commutator includes a power transfer region configured to transfer at least a first power signal and second power signal to the coils. It also includes a first power region and a second power region configured to provide the first power signal and the second power signal, respectively, to the power transfer region. The first power region and the second power region each are configured to rotate together with the power transfer region about an axis of rotation. In one embodiment, the field pole commutator is implemented in a brushless direct current (“DC”) current motor, which includes a rotor having permanent magnets and a plurality of active field pole members. Each active field pole member has one or more coils wound about the periphery of field pole members to form said plurality of active field pole members. In a specific embodiment, permanent magnets of the rotor include either conical magnets or cylindrical magnets, or both.

Abstract: A vehicle steering knuckle assembly for use in association with a vehicle steering axle assembly is shown to include an upper piece having a first king pin bore extending through it and a backbone piece removably connectable to the first piece. The backbone has a second king pin bore extending through it. The upper piece has an integral steering arm and a pad through which is machined a steering ball taper. The lower piece has an integral tie rod and a pad through which is machined a tie rod ball taper. Because the two pieces are removable from each other, the steering knuckle can be assembled and serviced while a king pin is retained in place in an axle beam.
