The present invention involves a process and materials for simultaneous desulfurization and water gas shift of a gaseous stream comprising contacting the gas stream with a nickel aluminate catalyst. The nickel aluminate catalyst is preferably selected from the group consisting of Ni2xAl2O2x+3, Ni(2−y)Ni0yAl2O(5−y), Ni(4−y)Ni0yAl2O(7−y), Ni(6−y)Ni0yAl2O(9−y), and intermediates thereof, wherein x≧0.5 and 0.01≦y≦2. Preferably, x is between 1 and 3. More preferably, the nickel containing compound further comprises Ni2xAl2O2x+3−zSz wherein 0≦z≦2x.

These microporous compositions have a three dimensional framework structure of at least silicon tetrahedral oxide units and at least one M oxide unit. M is a rare earth element. Optionally, the microporous compositions may contain as part of the framework an M′ element having a valence of +2, +3, +4 or +5 such as zinc (+2), iron (+3), zirconium (+4) and tantalum (+5). The composition is represented by the empirical formula: An(M1−zM′z)wSi1−yGeyOx where A is a cation such as sodium and “n”, “z”, “w”, “y” and “x” are the mole fractions of the various elements.

A new family of crystalline metal oxide compositions have been synthesized. These compositions are described by the empirical formula: AnNbMxM′yM″mOp where A is an alkali metal cation, ammonium ion and mixtures thereof, M is tungsten, molybdenum, or mixtures thereof. M′ is vanadium, tantalum and mixtures thereof, and M″ is antimony, tellurium and mixtures thereof. M′ and M″ are optional metals. These compositions are characterized by having an x-ray diffraction pattern having at least one peak at a d spacing of about 3.9 Å. A hydrothermal synthesis procedure as well as processes using the composition, e.g., ammoxidation of propane, are also disclosed.

This invention relates to a process for removing contaminant metal ions from a liquid stream. The process involves contacting the liquid stream with a crystalline molecular sieve having the pharmacosiderite structure and having germanium and M metals as framework elements. Optionally, titanium and silicon can also be framework elements. The M metals can be any metal which has octahedral coordination and has a valence of +2, +3, +4 or +5. Illustrative of these M metals are niobium, tin, antimony, aluminum, gallium and tantalum. These molecular sieves are particularly effective in removing cesium and strontium ions from aqueous streams.
