In the event that the user selects the DVHS from the buttons displayed on the DTV operating screen, data corresponding to the DVHS operation screen is input to the DTV, and a DVHS operation screen is displayed on the CRT display screen 61. The user operation executed regarding the DVHS operation screen are notified from the DTV to the DVHS, so the DTV can execute control corresponding to the operations of the user, without transmitting commands for directly controlling the DVHS.

    摘要： A communication method for facilitating alteration of a transmission line in the case where the target device establishes a connection on the bus and thereby securing a transmission line in order to transmit stream data in a network of the IEEE 1394 scheme or the like. Stream data outputted from an output device connected to a predetermined network is received by an input device. When the output device or a different device has sent an order for setting so that output data of the output device may be inputted to a data input section of the input device, the input device conducts input setting based on the order. In addition, when the device which sent the order has sent an order to cancel the input setting, the input device conducts processing of canceling the input setting.

    摘要： An information processing system comprising a computer connected to an amplifier in an audio visual (AV) system through an IEEE 1394 serial bus connection. The amplifier has various different types of external terminals for connecting to other AV devices. The computer requests, receives and displays name information on the external terminals from the amplifier. A user of the system can select various AV devices from the name information displayed on the computer. The computer then commands the amplifier to switch to the selected AV device.

    摘要： An information processing apparatus is connected to another information processing apparatus via a network and has at least one sub-unit for executing a predetermined function. A reservation is made for causing a tuner sub-unit of an IRD to receive a predetermined channel broadcast at a predetermined time and to record it on a VCR sub-unit of a DVCR via an IEEE-1394 serial data bus. Then, a controller of the IRD writes reservation information into a Resource Schedule Board (RSB) built into a Bulletin Board Subunit (BBS) of the IRD and also writes reservation information of the VCR sub-unit into a RSB built into a BBS of the DVCR. With this arrangement, double-booking is prevented.

    摘要： A reproducing apparatus is provided which can reproduce data for decoding without overflowing or underflowing the decoder. Time information contained in the reproduced data is extracted, compared to a reference time and, depending upon such comparison, the reproduction and temporary holding of such data is controlled. Timing of the writing and reading of a temporary storage device (e.g. a FIFO buffer) and timing of the decoder are resettable simultaneously if discontinuous data are reproduced.
