In a process for the synthesis of .sup.11 C-labeled methyl iodide which comprises producing .sup.11 CO.sub.2 by the irradiation of a proton beam, supplying .sup.11 CO.sub.2 gas to a collector of .sup.11 CO.sub.2 gas, bubbling .sup.11 CO.sub.2 gas into a reducing agent solution to reduce .sup.11 CO.sub.2, removing the reducing agent solution by evaporation, synthesizing .sup.11 CH.sub.3 I from the reduced product of .sup.11 CO.sub.2, and recovering .sup.11 CH.sub.3 I by distillation, the termination point of the .sup.11 CO.sub.2 gas supply, the termination point of the bubbling, the termination point of the evaporation of the reducing agent solution or the termination point of the distillation of .sup.11 CH.sub.3 I is decided by a radiation sensor provided in the vicinity of the reaction vessel or a transfer tube connecting the target box wherein .sup.11 CO.sub.2 gas is generated or a temperature sensor provided in an exhaust tube of the reaction vessel. The synthesizing time is shortened, and the yield of .sup.11 CH.sub.3 I is improved by improving the utilization of .sup.11 CO.sub.2 gas and the recovery of .sup.11 CH.sub.3 I of which the half-life is very short.

A file control apparatus and a data transferring method that are capable of accessing data within a disk storage device at a much higher speed. The file control apparatus, when there arises a necessity for writing track data within a cache memory back to a disk storage device, writes a series of track data containing that piece of track data and to be written back to the consecutive tracks back to the disk storage device from within the cache memory and stores the effect that each piece of track data that has been written back is data requiring no necessity for the write-back process.

There is provided a silica membrane 1 formed on a porous substrate. A desorbed ionic strength of water having a temperature of 500° C. in a temperature-programmed desorption analysis of water of the silica membrane is 2,000,000/g. The silica membrane 1 is manufactured by allowing a silica sol having a water concentration of 0.03 to 3 mass % to adhere to a porous substrate by an ethanol solvent, drying the silica sol by sending air having a dew point of −70 to 0° C., and firing the dried silica sol at 200 to 400° C.

The present invention provides a method for producing a useful substance efficiently from cellulose without using any cellulase preparation. According to the disclosures of the present specification, in the production of a useful substance from a cellulose-containing material, the cellulose-containing material is brought into contact with an ionic liquid to cause the ionic liquid to permeate the cellulose-containing material, and a carbon source comprising the cellulose in the cellulose-containing material is simultaneously saccharified and fermented by a cellulase-producing microorganism in the presence of the ionic liquid.

The present invention provides: a water-absorbing agent which has excellent urine resistance; a water-absorbing agent which has not only excellent urine resistance, but also excellent absorption properties that are stable to any composition of urine and show little change with time; and production processes and uses for these water-absorbing agents. The present invention water-absorbing agent exhibits a specific or larger value of absorption capacity under a load in a process in which the absorption capacity under a load is measured in a new manner using a specific liquid to be absorbed, and the present invention provides an absorbent matter and an absorbent article which display a specific or larger value of new absorption index as is, for example, led from the absorption capacity under a load or from the resin concentration using the above water-absorbing agent. The present invention further provides a production process for a water-absorbing agent having the above specific parameter.

Water-absorbing agents containing polycarboxylic amine chelating agents. The water-absorbing agents are obtained by a process including the step of adding to a water-absorbent resin at least one chelating agent selected from the group consisting of polycarboxylic amines and maleic hydrophilic polymers. The polycarboxylic amine may be selected from a class that includes N-carboxymethyl-aspartic acid as one of its members or selected from a class that includes N,N′-bis(1,2-dicarboxyethyl)-ethylenediamine as one of its members. The water-absorbing agents have not only excellent urine resistance, but also excellent absorption properties that are stable to any composition of urine and show little change with time.

The invention clarifies absorption properties of a water-absorbent resin as needed in the case where the ratio by weight of the water-absorbent resin to the total of the water-absorbent resin and the fibrous material is ".alpha.," and further the invention provides an absorbent article using a water-absorbent resin which is optimal to the ratio by weight ".alpha." of the water-absorbent resin. A water-absorbent resin, having a concentration absorption index of 35 or more as shown by the following equation (1):A(1-.alpha.)+B.alpha. (1)wherein A (g/g) is an absorption capacity of the resin under no load, andB (g/g) is an absorption capacity of the resin under a load, is used as the water-absorbent resin as used for the absorbent article of at least 0.4 in the ratio by weight ".alpha." of the water-absorbent resin to the total of the water-absorbent resin and the fibrous material.
