Abstract:
Methods relate to tubulars that may be part of a tubular string for isolating one or more zones within a wellbore. In one embodiment, the tubular string includes a first expandable zone isolation unit disposed on a first side of a zone to be isolated, a second expandable zone isolation unit disposed on a second side of the zone to be isolated, and a perforated tubular disposed in fluid communication with a producing zone. The tubular string may be expanded using an expansion assembly having a first expander for expanding the first and second expandable zone isolation units and a second expander for expanding the at least one perforated tubular. Tags or markers along the tubular string may indicate locations where expansion is desired such that connections or connectors between joints are not expanded.
Abstract:
A dispersant which comprises the reaction product of a phosphating agent such as polyphosphoric acid and a compound of formula R—OH wherein R is a residue of a polyester and/or polyether having a polymerisation terminating group and where the ratio of each phosphorus atom of the phosphating agent to RO—H is from 1.3:1 to 3:1. The dispersants are thought to be pyrophosphates.
Abstract:
A system and method enhance observability of IC failures during burn-in tests. Scan automatic test pattern generation and memory built-in self-test patterns are monitored during the burn-in tests to provide a mechanism for observing selective scan chain outputs and memory BIST status outputs.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for introducing oxygen enriched air into a furnace includes injecting oxygen to a combustion chamber of the furnace; and entraining air into the oxygen during the injecting. If the furnace is a cross-fired regenerative furnace, the method and apparatus for introducing oxygen enriched air can be mounted to at least one regenerator for the furnace.
Abstract:
A method for melting meltable stock, such as glass includes a melting furnace (10) heated via a burner flame (25,29) generated by a burner port, through which fuel and oxidizer are supplied, a fuel-rich gas stream introduced into the furnace downstream from the burner port via at least one substoichiometrically operated burner (20,22) and/or a fuel or fuel mixture being introduced into the furnace downstream from the burner arrangement via at least one fuel nozzle, and a oxygen containing gas stream being introduced into the furnace downstream from the at least one substoichiometrically operated burner and/or the at least one fuel nozzle. A furnace device is also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods and apparatus for cutting tubulars in a wellbore. In one aspect of the invention, a cutting tool having radially disposed rolling element cutters is provided for insertion into a wellbore to a predetermined depth where a tubular therearound will be cut into an upper and lower portion. The cutting tool is constructed and arranged to be rotated while the actuated cutters exert a force on the inside wall of the tubular, thereby severing the tubular therearound. In one aspect, the apparatus is run into the well on wireline which is capable of bearing the weight of the apparatus while supplying a source of electrical power to at least one downhole motor which operates at least one hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump operates a slip assembly to fix the downhole apparatus within the wellbore prior to operation of the cutting tool. Thereafter, the pump operates a downhole motor to rotate the cutting tool while the cutters are actuated.
Abstract:
A method is provided to facilitate combustion in a furnace having at least one burner, an inlet, an outlet, and sidewalls and a crown defining a combustion chamber for the furnace, the method consisting of identifying a region of the combustion chamber where a furnace atmosphere therein requires an increase in oxygen for combustion in the furnace atmosphere, and providing fresh oxygen to the region at a controlled flow rate for the combustion, wherein the fresh oxygen provided causes circulation of the furnace atmosphere for combining existing gases and existing oxygen of the furnace atmosphere with the fresh oxygen provided to the region for combustion.
Abstract:
A burner for use in a combustion chamber of a furnace or a forehearth includes a gas delivery member for delivering a gaseous oxidant, a fuel delivery member for delivering a fuel and having a portion disposed at an interior of the gas delivery member and offset from a longitudinal axis of the gas delivery member, and a flange assembly mechanically associated with the gas and fuel delivery members, the flange assembly adapted for rotational movement to releasably secure the gas and fuel delivery members with respect to each other to provide a flame footprint at a select location in the combustion chamber.
