摘要: A lifting bar assembly comprising an elongated cylindrical rod over an intermediate portion of which a tube telescopically fits. A plurality of weight discs, each having a central hole and at least one hole adjacent the disc periphery are provided in abutting relationship with the ends of the tube and supported on the rod which extends through the selected hole. By selecting the hole adjacent the periphery, the assembly is highly useful for lifting in a room having a low ceiling, as in homes, so as to prevent bumping of the weights against the ceiling. As a bench press for lifting from the floor, a pair of support brackets, each having a plurality of vertically spaced holes through which the rod is slid, are supported on the floor and located between the ends of the tubes and the selected number of weights which are rigidly fastened to such ends by set screws on collars.

摘要: The present invention provides serum-free cell culture media formulations which are capable of supporting the in vitro cultivation of animal cells. The media comprise at least one nutrient of plant derivation, such as at least one plant peptide and/or at least one plant lipid and/or at least one plant fatty acid. The media may further optionally comprise an enzymatic digest or extract of yeast cells. The present invention also provides methods of cultivating animal cells in vitro using these cell culture media formulations. In addition, the media of the present invention can be used for growth of animal cells for virus production.In particular, an animal cell culture medium comprising at least one peptide derived from rice, wherein said animal cell culture medium is completely devoid of animal-derived proteins.

摘要: A modular wallcovering display rack for providing a convenient and cost effective means of displaying wallpaper samples and the like to potential customers is disclosed. The wallcovering display rack is fabricated in modular form so that it may adapted to fit various store configurations and is also easily expandable. The wallcovering display rack comprises a plurality of vertically stacked, inclined shelves upon which individual sheets of wallcovering samples may be placed for display. Vertical columns support the shelves and house fluorescent lights which provide a soft, even illumination of the wallcovering samples. An individual wallcovering sample can be easily removed from the wallcovering rack for closer inspection. The ease of removal also facilitates rapid sample changes to reflect updates in inventory. Each vertical support column has an array of pockets positioned in alignment with and adjacent the stack of shelves. Each pocket may contain a plurality of wallcovering take-home samples of the type displayed in the adjacent shelf. A customer may remove and keep a take-home sample from the pocket for use in deciding upon a particular wallcovering.

摘要: A weight lifting bar having accessory plate hangers depending from each end of the bar to support weights at right angles or parallel to the bar at a selected distance below the bar so as to enable the bar to be used for exercising under certain conditions, such as when lifting the weights in the vicinity of a ceiling, or getting underneath the bar to be on the floor before lifting. The accessories are detachably removed to enable the weights to be slid and attached directly on the ends of the bar, as in conventionally used bars.

The present invention also provides chemically defined, protein-free eukaryotic cell culture media comprising an iron chelate and zinc, which is capable of supporting the growth (and particularly the high-density growth of mammalian cells) in suspension culture, increasing the level of expression of recombinant protein in cultured cells, and/or increasing virus production in cultured cells.

摘要: The present invention provides a minimal essential medium for maintaining neural cell or tissue viability in an environment containing ambient levels of CO2. The medium contains less than about 2000 &mgr;M bicarbonate, a buffer having a pKa of from about 6.9 to about 7.7, wherein the medium is free of ferrous sulfate, glutamate and aspartate, from 0 to about 3000 &mgr;M CaCl2, from about 0.05 to about 0.8 &mgr;M Fe(NO3)3, from about 2500 to about 10000 &mgr;M KCl, from 0 to about 4000 &mgr;M MgCl2, from about 74000 to about 103000 &mgr;M NaCl, from about 400 to about 2000 &mgr;M NaHCO3, from about 250 to about 4000 &mgr;M NaH2PO4, from about 0.2 to about 2 &mgr;M ZnSO4, from about 2500 to about 50000 &mgr;M glucose and from about 23 to about 500 &mgr;M sodium pyruvate. The present invention also provides a process of extending neural cell or tissue viability in an atmosphere having ambient levels of carbon dioxide whereby the neural cells or tissue are placed in such a medium. Preferably, the medium is supplemented with a growth-promoting medium that contains effective amounts of hormones, essential fatty acids and anti-oxidants for neural cells.
