摘要: The protective coating on the front face of decorative vinyl wall covering is made from a dry wipeable fluorocarbon polymer. The product can be used like conventional wall paper or vinyl wall covering to provide a fanciful, decorative design covering some or all of the walls of a room. However, this fanciful, decorative design can be written on as desired, since markings on the product can be easily removed.

摘要: A flameless heater apparatus and method whose heating capacity and performance can be selected and tuned at the time of manufacture, and which is easily used and has a long shelf life. The apparatus and method may be used in flameless ration heaters, such as may be used in military or emergency situations. There is provided a flameless heating method and apparatus in which the solid reactive ingredients (not including liquid reactant, typically water) are not all blended or mixed together at the time of apparatus fabrication. Rather, at least one key ingredient (typically a super-corroding alloy of magnesium and iron) in a dry powder form is kept physically segregated from all the other ingredients, such as catalysts (normally acids such as acetic or tartaric acid or acidic mixtures) and surfactants. The exothermic chemical reaction is initiated only after at least one (typically a dry powder catalyst) goes into aqueous solution after the application of water (saline or non-saline). The catalytic solution flows out, through, and about and among water-permeable pockets in the pouch-like apparatus which contain one or more other ingredients, including the active ingredient (e.g., the Mg—Fe alloy). Thus, the catalyst and the active ingredient do not come into effective contact until a flowing aqueous saline solution carries a reactive catalytic-saline solution to the active ingredient alloy, and then mixes the inter-reactive ingredients to generate the desired heat.

摘要: An extruder having a vertically disposed feed screw depositing a hot melt adhesive as an extrudate laterally across a carrier member. A blade with a back-up roller regulates the flow onto the moving carrier member which along with the film formed thereon is cooled and thence selectively either rolled up with the carrier member into a roll or separated therefrom and rolled up onto itself as a supply roll of adhesive.

摘要: A bonding composition comprised of a plastisol and from 10 to 100 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of vinyl polymer resin in the plastisol of a polar material having a dielectric constant above 35 at 20.degree. C. is used for bonding together plastic components, such as vinyl polymer components. The bonding composition is interposed between and in contact with the plastic components which are to be bonded together. Then, the composite structure is exposed to electromagnetic energy having a wave length between about 0.001 to 0.3 meter for about 1/4 minute to 5 minutes. The electromagnetic energy heats the bonding composition to a temperature at which fusion of the bonding composition occurs and to a temperature sufficient to cause melting of the surfaces of the plastic components in contact with the bonding composition. Upon cooling the composite structure, a strong bond between the components has occurred.

摘要: Blends of crystalline and amorphous polymers are utilized to form uncured thermoplastic elastomer compositions which have good properties such as processability, tensile strength, tear strength, good weatherability, good friction, and especially low deformation at high temperatures as about 180.degree. F. The thermoplastic elastomer composition contains amorphous ethylene-propylene type rubber, crystalline ethylene-propylene type rubber, and crystalline olefins such as polyethylene. The crystalline polymers generally impart the necessary thermoplasticity for melt processing, and the like.
