    摘要: A device and reagents to be used in conjunction therewith for the determination of the level of sulfite or related species, including sulfur dioxide (SO2), in red or white wine, musts, beer, juices, water, industrial process streams and other opaque media is described. The device provides electrodes and circuits designed for amperometric detection of the titration endpoint and for indicating by sight, sound or touch when the endpoint has been reached. The reagents allow quantitative volumetric determination of the iodometric endpoint when used with the device. The sulfite or related species levels are related directly to the volume of the quantitative reagents used.

    摘要: Systems, including compositions, kits, and methods, particularly for photoluminescence applications. The systems may include, among others, (1) organic chelators, (2) complexes between the chelators and lanthanide ions, and (3) precursors, derivatives, and uses thereof. The chelators may include a 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane ring system, for example, having the formula: Here, R1, R2, and R3 are substituents of the tetraazacyclododecane ring system, that is further substituted at the 10-position by a sensitizer Z that is typically a polyheterocyclic ring system. The organic chelator may be capable of forming a luminescent complex with a lanthanide ion, and is optionally further substituted by a reactive functional group or a conjugated substance. The resulting lanthanide complex may be useful in luminescence-based assays, such as energy transfer assays, among others.

    摘要: Modulation of the activity of the insulin receptor, enhancement of glucose uptake by cells, and other effects significant in the control and management of diabetes are accomplished using compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein each Ar is independently an aromatic moiety; each A is independently a proton-accepting substituent; each R is independently a noninterfering substituent; m is 0 or 1; n is 4-6; and each linker is independently an isostere of --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.dbd.CH-- or --NCHO--. Compounds in the genus of Formula (1) can also be used for structure activity studies to identify features responsible for the relevant activities.
