A process for producing a thermoplastic polymer composition comprising: (1) 100 parts by weight of an olefin polymer which comprises ethylene and at least one &agr;-olefin having 3 to 10 carbon atoms and in which the density is in the range of 0.85 to 0.91 g/cm3 and the molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) which is the ratio of weight average molecular weight (Mw) and number average molecular weight (Mn) as calculated by a gel permeation chromatography (GPC) is less than 3.5, (2) 5 to 300 parts by weight of a propylene polymer, (3) 5 to 250 parts by weight of an oil, and (4) 0.02 to 3 parts by weight of a radical initiator, which process comprises steps of previously mixing and heat-kneading the olefin polymer, the propylene polymer and the radical initiator; adding the oil in the stage in which cross-linking is at a proportion of 30 to 95% based on the cross-linking degree of the composition to be finally obtained; and further melt-kneading them to cross-link the same.

The vulcanizable, fluorine-containing elastomer composition of the present invention is capable of providing a vulcanization product having not only excellent tensile properties, resistance to heat and oils, and sealability at high temperatures which are comparable to those of vulcanization products of conventional fluorine-containing elastomer compositions, but also having a remarkably improved compression set resistance which has not conventionally been achieved, and the elastomer composition per se is remarkably improved with respect to mold release properties, flowability, roll processability, and workability in vulcanization molding, particularly in vulcanization molding by injection.

Disclosed is a layered product comprising a skin layer and a cushioning layer and/or a reinforcing layer, said skin layer being a thermoplastic elastomer composition which comprises (A) 1-99 parts by weight of. an ethylene-&agr;-olefin copolymer produced by polymerizing ethylene and an &agr;-olefin of 3-12 carbon atoms using a metallocene catalyst and (B) 1-99 parts by weight of a propylene resin [total amount of (A) and (B) being 100 parts by weight], said ethylene-&agr;-olefin copolymer being partially or completely crosslinked. According to the present invention, a layered product can be provided which is excellent in flexibility, has a rubber-like or leather-like appearance, and is excellent in abrasion resistance, mechanical strength and environmental resistance.
