摘要: A physiological function assisting device 1 is embedded in the body, and is provided with a transmitter 11 and receiver 12 for communicating with an external controller 2. External controller 2 controls embedded physiological function assisting device 1 from the outside. External controller 2 is provided with a transmitter 21 and receiver 22 for communicating with physiological function assisting device 1. Transmitters 11,21 modulate the plane of polarization of laser light, and emit the result as a transmission signal. Receivers 12,22 selectively receive light of a specific polarization state. Receivers 12,22 respectively output electric signals corresponding to the polarization state (polarization angle or ellipticity) of the received light. As a result, full duplex communications between a strongly dispersing medium like the human body and the outside is possible, while the power consumed by the internal device can be reduced.

摘要: A light emitting element driving circuit drives a surface-emitting element, and the light emitting element driving circuit is equipped with a bias current driving circuit that supplies a generally constant bias current to the surface-emitting element, a modulation current driving circuit that supplies to the surface-emitting element a modulation current superimposed on the bias current, and a temperature detection circuit that detects the temperature of the surface-emitting element, wherein the modulation current driving circuit decreases the current amount of the modulation current, when the temperature detected rises. The bias current driving circuit may preferably supply the bias current to the surface-emitting element through a coil, and the modulation current driving circuit may preferably supply the modulation current to the surface-emitting element through a capacitor.

摘要: An optical module which can be made more compact and lightweight. An end portion (18) of a mounting substrate (10) forms a mirror which reflects light through 90 degrees. A surface-emission laser (22) is disposed so that a light-emitting aperture (28) faces the end portion (18). Within the mounting substrate (10) are formed a core (12) extending along the plane of the mounting substrate (10) and a cladding (14). The mounting substrate (10) doubles as an optical waveguide. Therefore, the optical module can be made thinner. As a result, the optical module can be made more compact and lightweight.

摘要: Based on binary transmission data 12, a receiver 11 emits electromagnetic waves 13 with modulated plane of polarization into a free space 16. The data propagates along the free space 16 as the azimuth of the plane of polarization. A receiver 17 accepts the electromagnetic wave 13 with modulated plane of polarization discriminates the data based on the state of the plane of polarization, and outputs the binary received data 18. The data and the clock data are transmitted from a plurality of light-emitting units with different polarization states or wavelengths to omit PLL circuits.
