    摘要: An apparatus and method for lubricating an internal-combustion engine includes a shaft extending through a gearbox, a gear and a sliding sleeve coupled to rotate with the shaft and adapted to move axially along the shaft, a gearshift fork in mating engagement with the sliding sleeve and moveable parallel to the shaft, a rib in the gearbox adjacent the shaft, and a duct extending into the gearbox. The duct preferably directs a lubricant onto the gearshift fork and the sliding sleeve. Preferably, the rib directs the lubricant from the duct onto the gearshift fork and the sliding sleeve. In an alternative embodiment, at least some of the lubricant flung from the shaft, gear, and sliding sleeve contacts the rib and is directed onto the sliding sleeve and the gearshift fork. Further preferably, a projection extends from the rib to direct the lubricant onto the sliding sleeve and the gearshift fork.

    摘要: The invention relates to an internal-combustion engine, in particular for motorcycles, with a crankshaft (24) which is arranged in a crankcase (10, 14) and which is connected by way of connecting rods (20, 22) to pistons arranged so as to be movable in cylinders (16, 18), with an oil sump (12) which is situated below the crankcase (10) and from which the lubricating oil is conveyed to the consumer devices by way of an oil pump (60), and with means for returning the lubricating oil from the consumer devices to the oil sump (12). It is proposed that, in order to separate the oil taken up in particular by the crankshaft (24), a part of the crankcase (10) adjacent to the crankshaft (24) has a wall portion (26a to d) which extends parallel to the axis of rotation of the crankshaft (24) and the outline of which is adapted to the enveloping curves of the crankshaft webs (27, 28) and/or the connecting rods (20, 22). A rapid return of the lubricating oil to the oil sump is made possible by this step.

    摘要: An intake system for a combustion engine has at least two rows of cylinder heads, each of which features an intake manifold with individual pipes leading to the cylinders. The intake manifolds are connected to one another through transverse ducts equipped with switching valves as well as to an air supply duct leading to one of the transverse ducts, which features a throttle valve to regulate the air volume. The air supply duct is preferably comprised of a double-fluted distributor pipe leading to one of the transverse ducts. A throttle valve housing is connected upstream of the distributor pipe, and an interior wall is integrated into the distributor pipe, thereby dividing the interior space thereof into two interior ducts of virtually equal cross section.

    摘要: A thermostat housing assembly for a motorcycle engine includes a body portion defining a cavity and an inlet port communicating with the cavity. The inlet port is configured to be directly connected to a water jacket outlet. The thermostat housing assembly further includes a return port communicating with the cavity and configured to be coupled to a return line. A thermally-responsive valve in the cavity selectively prevents and allows communication between the cavity and the return port. Preferably, the thermostat housing assembly further includes a second inlet port communicating with the cavity and configured to be directly connected to a second water jacket outlet. Further preferably, the first and second inlet ports are substantially parallel to each other and the first inlet port is longer than the second inlet port. Each inlet port includes a connector for connecting the inlet port to a water jacket outlet.
