The low-temperature cooling water channel is configured to include a first water jacket that covers at least one portion of the wall surface of the intake port on an intake-air upstream side relative to an opening end opening at a wall surface of the intake port from the gas channel.

    摘要: Charge air coolers (CACs) are commonly used in pressure-charged, internal combustion engines to reduce the temperature of the air entering the combustion chamber. Typically, one CAC is provided and all of the intake air is inducted past the one CAC. An intake manifold in which a plurality of CACs are provided in the intake runners, i.e., a parallel flow arrangement, is disclosed herein. By positioning the CACs in the intake runners, the CACs are more effective than when they are positioned upstream in the plenum. In some embodiments, the coolant is supplied and returned to the multiple CACs via headers. By providing coolant to each CAC that is substantially the same temperature, the cylinder-to-cylinder temperature variation is reduced compared to a single CAC.

Provided is a vertical engine including: a pair of intake passages (911a and 911b) which are arranged in an up and down direction with the interposition of a central axis of a cylinder (241) therebetween; a pair of intake valves (41L1 and 41L2) which open and close the pair of intake passages; and fuel injectors (70L1 and 70L2) which inject fuel to the pair of intake passages; wherein: the fuel injectors are arranged so that fuel injection directions by the fuel injectors can go not toward valve stems (411) of the intake valves provided in the upper and lower intake passages respectively but toward the backs of valve heads of the intake valves on a central axis (C1) side of the cylinder and the fuel injectors are disposed so that a central axis (FC2) of injection of the fuel injector into the lower intake passage can be closer to the central axis side of the cylinder than a central axis (CF1) of injection of the fuel injector into the upper intake passage.

    摘要: An intake system of an engine includes an engine and an intake manifold. The intake manifold defines individual intake air passageways each connecting one of cylinders to a volume chamber. Each of the individual intake passageways includes a first route and a second route. The first route has a natural frequency, of an air column, synchronized with a first revolution higher than an engine revolution for maximum torque such that a dynamic supercharging effect is obtained at the first revolution. The second route has a natural frequency, of an air column, synchronized with a second revolution higher than the engine revolution for maximum torque such that a dynamic supercharging effect is obtained at the second revolution. The second revolution differs from the first revolution. A difference between the first and second revolutions is set lower than or equal to 15% of a maximum engine revolution.

Of the first combinations, a second combination is defined to have a shortest communication length via the sub-stream passage. Of the second combination, the connection port of one of the branch passages where the intake air is introduced later is narrower than that of the other of the branch passages where the intake air is introduced earlier.

    摘要: An air-intake duct, which is disposed between an air outlet of an air cleaner box constituting an air cleaner and an air inlet of a throttle body constituting a throttle device, is configured to guide air cleaned by the air cleaner to the throttle device. The air-intake duct includes a tubular coupling member including an upstream coupling portion coupled in an air tight manner to the air outlet of the air cleaner box and a downstream coupling portion air-tightly coupled to the air inlet of the throttle body, the coupling member being entirely formed of an elastic rubber material.
