Abstract:
An impact resistant door skin, a door including the same, and a method of manufacturing an impact resistant door skin from a pre-formed door skin are provided. The method includes the steps of providing at least one preformed door skin and applying adhesive to a rear side of the at least one preformed door skin. A fiberglass mesh mat is pressed onto the rear side of the at least one preformed door skin. Then, chopped glass fibers coated with adhesive are sprayed onto the rear side of the at least one preformed door skin using a chopper gun to form a layer of chopped glass fibers on the fiberglass mesh mat. The performed door skin may be a molded door skin having at least one recessed panel formed therein.
Abstract:
A battery charger with a fixed frequency charging signal at or near the resonant frequency of the battery to be charged is presented. The present invention utilizes a microprocessor to modulate a current source at or near the resonant frequency of the battery to be charged without the use of a PLL. To simplify conventional modulated battery chargers, the PLL or other methods of phase correction are removed, reducing most of the calculation requirements for adjusting the phase angle, thereby reducing the piece count and ultimately cost and complexity. The result is a solution wherein charging occurs at or near the resonant frequency of the battery, and although suboptimal, the results are superior to traditional charging methods.
Abstract:
An electrostatic powder spray coating method and apparatus for producing evenly coated continuous films of thermoplastic and thermosetting powders on substrates or parts having electrically conductive geometric complex surfaces and enables the use, without the occurrence of "cobwebbing," of significantly higher charging voltages for the spray gun in the spray coating of preheated substrates and parts, thus allowing faster coating lines. The invention features the use of a grounded electrically conductive ring for grounding the ionized field in the powder discharge region of the spray gun.
Abstract:
A method for suppressing the expression of a selected gene in a cell, the method comprising introducing into the cell a molecule comprising (1) a nucleic acid binding portion which binds to a site or associated with the selected gene which site is present in a genome and (2) an expression repressor portion, wherein the nucleic acid binding portion comprises an oligonucleotide or oligonucleotide mimic or analogue, and wherein the repressor portion comprises a polypeptide or peptidomimetic. Molecules for use in the methods of the invention are provided. The repressor may be a portion of a histone deacetylase or DNA methylase or polypeptide capable of recruiting a histone deacetylase or DNA methylase.

Abstract:
The integration of a myriad of modern and legacy systems into a unified logical view is provided. Modern software systems are dependent upon the interaction with and extraction of data from a multitude of distributed systems each generally being accessed by unique credentials using proprietary or vendor-specific protocols. Users faced with the extraction and manipulation of data from these disparate sources must manage multiple login accounts, simultaneously run multiple applications for access and manipulation of data from said sources, and develop new or utilize existing tools for correlation and reporting of data. The present invention provides a single-point interface through which multiple, disparate systems interoperate. User security, communications, information management, searching, reporting, logging, and system maintenance can be performed on any of these systems from a single point provided by this invention. In short, this invention allows users to present a tailored view or representation of the underlying systems it integrates, and is built upon an extensible framework that facilitates rapid deployment of new or changes to the existing subsystems it integrates. The IDSM Processor framework provides XML-based interaction with IDSM clients, validation of client-supplied messages, IDSM data store access, and the management of process flow through the system including identification and invocation of versioned service processing logic. Service processing logic is necessarily dependent upon the requirements associated with said service; therefore, design and implementation details are outside the context of this framework document and will be included in service-specific artifacts.

Abstract:
A method of surface sealing a porous fibrous substrate is provided. According to the method, a porous fibrous substrate possessing a moisture content and a surface with pores is provided. A sealant composition is applied to a surface of the porous fibrous substrate and permitted to penetrate the surface pores of the porous fibrous substrate and undergo cure while participating in a foaming reaction with the moisture content to establish a water-resistant polymeric foam sealant impregnated into the porous fibrous substrate. The water-resistant polymeric foam sealant contains a polyurethane and/or polyurea.
