    摘要: Low boiling (C.sub.1 to C.sub.4) aliphatic hydrocarbons are obtained by passing a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide at a molar ratio of about 1:2 to 2:1 at a temperature between about 350.degree. and about 450.degree. C. and a pressure of about 600 p.s.i.g. to about 10,000 p.s.i.g. at a volumetric hourly space velocity of about 200 to about 6000 in contact with catalyst comprising a sulfided, interspersed mixture of cobalt oxide, aluminum oxide and zinc oxide. The catalyst, prior to sulfiding, comprises about 1 to about 15 weight percent of cobalt oxide, about 55 to about 85 weight percent of aluminum oxide and about 15 to about 30 weight percent of zinc oxide. In preparing the catalyst, the cobalt, aluminum and zinc can be separately precipitated as the corresponding hydroxides and then admixed prior to calcination, or two or more of such metals can be coprecipitated as the hydroxides at a controlled pH with ammonium hydroxide from the corresponding aqueous nitrate solutions and then admixed with each other. The admixed hydroxides of cobalt, aluminum and zinc are then dried, calcined and sulfided. The sulfur content of the catalyst by elemental analysis, comprises about 2.0 to 12.0 percent by weight of the final catalyst composition.

Another solution may include an organic or an inorganic nucleating agent, or mixtures thereof, in monohydric, dihydric or polyhydric alcohols, or mixtures thereof, and in addition may contain one or more surfactants.

    摘要: A process and apparatus are described for producing higher hydrocarbons from lower hydrocarbons, e.g. by gas phase electrocatalytic polymerization of methane. This is done using an electrolysis cell having an anode chamber on one side of a solid electrolyte and a cathode chamber on the other side of the solid electrolyte. According to this process, methane-containing gas is passed through the anode chamber to contact a catalytic anode which is connected to one side of the solid electrolyte, this solid electrolyte comprising a solid proton conducting membrane. An inert gas or oxygen is passed through the cathode chamber to contact a catalytic cathode which is connected to the other side of the proton conducting membrane. The membrane is designed so that H+ is capable of passing through the membrane from the anode chamber to the cathode chamber.
