摘要:
This invention relates to an improved multifilament bundle which is made of thermoplastic polymer and usable without twisting and represents a linen-like touch. The multifilament bundle comprises a plurality of monofilaments of the same kind of thermoplastic polymer, said monofilaments being bonded thermally and partially together with neighboring at separated places thereof, each of said bonded places extending short distance along and in the longitudinal direction of monofilament, so as to make the constituent monofilaments coherent with each other into a non-torqued, non-bulky continuous yarn. This yarn can be fabricated, without sizing, into a textile fabric. This yarn can be used in various fields requiring untwisted yarns including sewing machine yarn. This yarn can be manufactured by passing a multifilament as spun at underfeed condition through a passage zone where heated fluid flows are brought into collision with each other. The fluid may preferably steam, while the material polymer may preferably 6- or 66 nylon.

Thermoplastic synthetic polymer fibers having powder of metal attached to the surface of the fibers are subjected to a treatment for increasing the oxidation number of said metal from zero to a plus value, that is, oxidation in a broad sense. The resulting conductive synthetic fibers support a layer of a compound of the metal, i.e. an oxidized product of the metal in a broad sense, firmly and undetchably thereon, and have as low an electric resistivity as 10.sup.5 .OMEGA./cm or less. The conductive fibers can be blended to ordinary synthetic fibers to improve their antistatic property, or can be substituted for expensive metal fibers. The thermoplastic synthetic polymer fibers are sheath-core fibers wherein the sheath has a lower melting point than the core.

The present invention is to provide a method of producing an adsorbent composed of micro-fibrils, comprising the steps of mixing two synthetic polymers in a mixing ratio of 20/80 - 80/20, both of said polymers being incompatible with each other when they are intimately mixed, subjecting the mixture in molten state to an extrusion molding to shape the article in the form of threads, ropes or films where at least one of the polymers assumes the forms of micro-fibrils, and thereafter treating the shaped article with a solvent which is incapable of dissolving or decomposing one polymer but capable of dissolving or decomposing the other constituent polymer. The polymer adsorbent obtained by the above method is characterized by superior adsorbing activity and high treating efficiency and can be used for a wide range of purpose of adsorption.

In manufacturing a fine-patterned thick film conductor structure, a thin film conductor layer having a film thickness of 0.1-10 .mu.m is formed on an insulating substrate and conductive material is then electroplated on the thin film conductor layer to the thickness of 34.9-190 .mu.m under the condition of a cathode current density of no less than 5 A/dm.sup.2. In patterning the conductors, a film thickness-to-conductor interspacing ratio is selected to be no less than 1.4 to prevent widthwise thickening of the conductors in the electroplating process. Resulting conductor structure has a circuit density of no less than 5 lines/mm and a film thickness of 35-200 .mu.m. It is useful for a high density printed circuit board and a miniature coil.

Synthetic fibers capable of absorbing aqueous medium are manufactured by simultaneously extruding the fiber material and a second material in a core and sheath arrangement. Turbulence is produced in the zone where these two materials combine which results in undulations in their cross-sections. The second material is then dissolved away with a solvent to leave a fiber with an undulating surface. When the second material is extruded as the core, the fiber is hollow with undulations on the inside while when the second material is extruded as the sheath the solid fiber has an undulating outer surface.

A non-woven fabric usable as a substratum sheet for artificial leather having a relatively high flexural rigidity is prepared by a process in hich fibrous bundles, each consisting of a plurality of extremely fine filaments or fibers having a denier of 0.005 to 0.5, is provided while allowing the filaments or fibers to spontaneously adhere to each other without using an adhesive, the fibrous bundles are massed into the form of sheet or web, and the sheet or web is then subjected to a non-woven fabric forming operation in which the fibrous bundles are entangled with each other.

A process for preparing polyamides which comprises polymerizing a polyamide-forming compound selected from the group consisting of .omega.-aminocarboxylic acids, .omega.-lactams and an equimolar mixture of a diamine and a dicarboxylic acid and modifying the polyamide formed in the polymerization by incorporating at least one compound of the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein M represents an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal; n is an integer of 2 to 4; and m is an integer of 2 or more; before, during or after the polymerization.
