    Abstract: Pulmonary treatment methods and systems. During pulmonary treatment breath cycles, a hold period of elevated inspiration pressure may promote lung region filling (and potentially recruitment) via collateral airways. Expectoration is promoted by dropping from the inspiration pressure to an undershoot pressure; de-recruitment (e.g., by airway collapse) is mitigated by raising the undershoot pressure to a positive expiratory pressure (PEP) during expiration phase. Breath cycles with a period of post-PEP suction may also be administered. Respiratory therapy systems may be programmed or re-programmed to administer this pressure protocol. In some embodiments, a system includes a hand-held unit including a patient mouthpiece, a base unit which provides pressurized gas to the mouthpiece, an electronically controllable valve in the hand-held unit for providing therapy maneuvers such as PEP (Positive Expiratory Pressure) through the mouthpiece, and a computing unit which instructs the hand-held unit to perform therapy maneuvers.

    Abstract: Apparatus for diagnosing breast cancer, the apparatus comprising a controller having a set of instructions executable to: acquire a contrast enhanced region of interest (CE-ROI) in an X-ray image of a patient's breast, the X-ray image comprising X-ray pixels that indicate intensity of X-rays that passed through the breast to generate the image; determine a texture neighborhood for each of a plurality of X-ray pixels in the CE-ROI, the texture neighborhood for a given X-ray pixel of the plurality of X-ray pixels extending to a bounding pixel radius of BPR pixels from the given pixel; generate a texture feature vector (TF) having components based on the indications of intensity provided by a plurality of X-ray pixels in the CE-ROI that are located within the texture neighborhood; and use a classifier to classify the texture feature vector TF to determine whether the CE-ROI is malignant.

    Abstract: Apparatus for coupling a prosthetic chorda to an atrioventricular valve leaflet, the apparatus comprising: a neochorda delivery system comprising a steerable and pushable catheter housing a neochorda attached to a neochorda puncture needle, the catheter operable to push the puncture needle to puncture and thread the neochorda through a papillary muscle of a ventricle; a retriever system comprising a catheter housing a grabber operable to capture the neochorda puncture needle after being threaded through the papillary muscle and withdraw the neochorda puncture needle and neochorda from the ventricle; and a tissue clamping system comprising a catheter housing distal and proximal tissue clamps deployable to clamp a region of an atrioventricular valve between them and hold the region so that it may be punctured by the puncture needle to deliver the neochorda through the leaflet and to the papillary muscle.

    Abstract: A spectral imaging device includes an imager, a scanning stage to establish relative motion between the imager and a sample in a scanning direction and an optical system controlling a light characteristic of a light beam constituting an image of the sample to the imager. The optical system includes a light varying element to receive the light beam and provide an output light beam with spatially varying light characteristic over a cross-section thereof. A set of redirecting optical elements direct light rays from the sample to form the light beam, and to focus the output light beam onto the imager. A controller controls the scanning stage and the imager to capture a plurality of image frames with an overlap including a defined shift that is greater than 1 pixel along the scanning direction between consecutive image frames. A computing device consolidates image data to provide an image of the sample.
